Pretty incredible new Mustang heading to Ford showrooms this year! The Petty’s Garage KING Edition is set to be produced and sold with a full warranty, yet wild race parts and custom detailing. The wildly sexy lower-body and flip tail spoiler are offered in matching blue crush of the previous Mecum auction car, donated to the Paralyzed Veterans of America foundation and scoring a major sale haul — in the half-mil range!
These new King Editions will go fast, both on the street and on the lot, of course. Standard horsepower for the supercharged base model is 627-ponies, while a Stage II kit runs a tighter supercharger gearset and race map to deliver its 727 high-strung stallions.
Pricing is from $70k to $94k depending on options. A cool look at both variants in the range via these photos fresh from Petty’s Museum, of the white King Edition 2016 showing two wheel styles — one silver, one black.
The other awesome preview is of the 14-unit convertible production run, with its special paintwork a signature detail, even without a major bodykit. A new type of premium painted racing stripe also joins the options list, which can be ordered from Ford dealers. Long live the KING!

2016 Petty’s Garage Mustang GT “King” Edition Announced
Petty’s Garage is working once again with Ford Motor Company. This time around we’re building three new Mustang GT “King” editions.
The Petty’s Garage Mustangs have been a huge success and a lot of fun for us. We built two versions and a total of 143 Mustang GTs for 2015. For 2016 we’re upping our game and building three different versions for a total of 300 limited edition Petty’s Garage Mustang GTs.
The production run will include 243 Mustang King GTs, 43 Mustang King Premiers, and 14 King Premier Convertibles.
The upgrades start under the hood. The Ford 5.0 liter V8 gets fortified with a Ford Performance supercharger adding 235 horsepower to make a total of 670 horsepower. This is up from the 627 horsepower in the 2015 model.
You say you need more power? Among other options, you can order your Petty’s Garage Mustang with an additional 57hp, bringing it up to a pavement twisting 727 horsepower!

For 2016 we’re upping our game and building a total of 300 limited edition Petty’s Garage Mustang GTs;
243 Mustang King GTs, 43 Mustang King Premiers, and 14 King Premier Convertibles.
It all starts under the hood with the Ford 5.0 liter V8 modified with a Ford Performance supercharger adding 235 horsepower to make a total of 670 horsepower.
An optional Level 2 upgrade uses a smaller supercharger pulley and Ford racing calibration to make 727 horsepower.
And to make it even better, they are backed by a Ford 3 year, 36,000 mile limited power train warranty.**
Other power train modifications include custom engine calibration, a cold air intake, and a Magnaflow exhaust system.
Keeping things in control are extreme duty “TrakPak” Ford Racing half-shafts, three-way adjustable front and rear sway bars, and a rear axle upgrade.
Putting all that power to the ground is the job of custom matte-black Petty’s Garage/HRE staggered 20″x9″ front wheels and 20″x10″ rear wheels with Continental Extreme Performance summer tires.
In addition to power and handling upgrades, the cars get an assortment of Petty’s Garage appearance parts. These include a custom rear diffuser with custom center mounted exhaust designed by The King himself: Richard Petty. The list goes on with a Petty’s Garage shift knob, sill plates, floor mats, embroidered headrests, a NASCAR inspired rear spoiler and more.
The King Premier Edition goes even further with different HRE/Petty’s Garage wheels, a big brake upgrade kit with six-pot calipers up front and four-pot calipers in the rear grabbing two-piece rotors, and a custom leather interior. Other exclusive features of the King Premier include a Petty’s Garage/BASF custom tri-color stripe package in red, white, and Petty Blue covered in crushed and tumbled glass in clear coat. Body cladding is also painted Petty Blue with the same crushed and tumbled glass in clear coat.
Further options for all three editions include upgraded suspension bushings to minimize wheel hop, a coil-over racing suspension upgrade and the supercharger upgrade yielding 727 horsepower.

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 23, 2015 – Featuring up to 727 horsepower, the new Petty’s Garage 2016 Mustang GT King edition means that Ford’s pony will be hell for some cats.
Petty’s Garage – the in-house speed shop of NASCAR legend Richard “The King” Petty – returns with a limited number of highly modified Mustang GTs built to the specifications of The King himself.
“I’ve always liked the look of the Mustang, and the 2016 model gives us a great base car to work with,” said Richard Petty. “These new King edition Mustangs are pretty much the way I’d build my own. They are great fun to drive, and have a signature single exhaust.
“With the new paint on the Premier edition,” he added, “that’s how you know we built it. They look pretty sharp.”
The dealerships Petty’s Garage has worked with are enjoying a good amount of success. “We’re looking forward to having an even bigger footprint in more locations this year,” said Jeff Whaley, chief operating officer, Petty’s Garage. “This is such a good opportunity for enthusiasts to own a serialized limited-production Petty Mustang GT.”
The modified Mustang GT will come in three editions with small production numbers – 243 King models, 43 King Premier and 14 King Premier convertibles. Customers can order the cars through their local Ford dealership.
Starting with a factory Ford Mustang GT, Petty’s Garage adds a Ford Performance supercharger to the stock 5.0-liter V8 engine. The supercharger adds 235 horsepower, for a total output of 670 horsepower, backed by a three-year, 36,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. Other powertrain modifications include custom engine calibration, a cold-air intake for better breathing and a MagnaFlow exhaust.
Backing up that power are extreme-duty TrakPak Ford Performance halfshafts, three-way adjustable front and rear sway bars, and a rear axle upgrade.
Custom matte-black Petty’s Garage/HRE staggered 20- x 9-inch front wheels and 20- x 10-inch rear wheels with Continental Extreme Performance summer tires are standard.
In addition to the go-fast pieces, the cars are worked over with a number of Petty’s Garage appearance parts – including custom rear diffuser with Richard Petty-designed center-mounted exhaust, shift knob, sill plates, floor mats, embroidered head restraints and rear spoiler. The King signs every model on a special dash plate.
The King Premier edition features different HRE/Petty’s Garage wheels, a big brake upgrade kit that includes six-piston front brakes and four-piston rears over two-piece rotors, and custom leather trimmed interior. Other highlights include a complete Petty’s Garage/BASF custom tri-color stripe package featuring iconic Petty blue, red and white stripes covered in crushed and tumbled glass in clear coat. Petty blue body cladding gets the clear coat crushed and tumbled glass as well.
Options for all three editions include different wheel bushings to minimize wheel hop, a coil-over racing suspension and a supercharger upgrade that results in a total of 727 horsepower.
Starting suggested retail prices are $67,495 for the King edition and $90,495 for King Premier. More details and available options can be found at the Petty’s Garage website.
