Acura is preparing to debut the 2025 ADX in a few months with the new entry-level crossover promising to fill a hole in the brand’s model lineup. While the company is not quite ready to unveil the model in full just yet, several new teaser images appear to confirm that the ADX will attempt to blur the lines of performance and style when it debuts in a few months. ADX fills the void Our glimpse of the exterior was limited to a single shadowy image of the rear lighting which suggests it will follow the brand’s current design language with …

Acura’s Monterey Bound Concept Previews Performance SUV

The Acura ZDX was seen as a redemption play of sorts from the Japanese automaker. The ZDX was Acura’s first foray into EVs but came after an ICE-powered model which was a slow seller and quietly retreated into the shadows after a brief production run. This time around, the ZDX is promoting technology, luxury, and range. However, the ZDX is not the raw performance model that some EV buyers want when compared to rivals from Tesla, Rivian, and others. Acura appears to have listened to these concerns and has unveiled an all-new EV SUV concept that might push the envelope …

2024 Acura Integra Type S review by Ben Lewis

Recently when Honda introduced the all-new Civic, it wasnʻt long before an all-new Integra followed, and we liked it very much. And when Honda introduced itʻs new Civic Type R we knew that an Integra Type S couldnʻt be far behind. And now itʻs here. And surprisingly itʻs a very different vehicle than the Civic. Put on your driving gloves – weʻre going for a test drive! Sexy and Svelte The exterior is a big win for us. When the Civic got a re-do for 2022 we loved the cleaner more upscale looks, and our 2023 Integra A-Spec was also …

TPMS Sensors The Next Frontier In Markups? Isolated Case Suggests That We Have Crossed This New Threshold

Let’s face it, folks, dealer markups (especially in a post-COVID-19 world) have rapidly become an undesirable but virtually impossible-to-avoid aspect of shopping for a majority of new vehicles (especially performance models). We have seen markups for all kinds of things over the years, but a recent trip through the land of Facebook (and later investigation) revealed a puzzling markup item that made us ask; Should federally mandated pieces of safety equipment be used to help pad a dealership’s profits?   TPMS Sensors, Why We Need Them, and How Are They An Accessory? The listing that caught our attention (and subsequently …

The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is shaping up to be a wild and potent tribute to some of the 1990s nostalgia that the original Integra was known for. With a turbocharged four-cylinder producing over 300-hp and enough style to make your camera lens melt, this breed of Integra certainly has all the right stuff. However, the one item we didn’t know about was pricing, but that’s now changed with the Japanese luxury car maker revealing the final pricing for the spicy compact.   Integra Type S Shoots For Value Dollar, Aims To Make Wallets Sing With Joy Pricing for …

Road Test Review – 2023 Acura RDX – Light Updates Add New Vigor To SUV

The 2023 Acura RDX is a rare breed of SUV. Unlike others in the segment that prefer to focus on hauling people and leave any notion of fun to be served as a lingering flashback in the memory of the dad that had to sacrifice his bright red Camaro for the family life, the RDX is a rare combination of fun and functionality. Oh and did we mention that it looks good too? Acura made some light tweaks to the RDX for 2023 that aim to make this luxury lined bruiser a more composed SUV but have they also diluted …

2020 Acura RDX SH-AWD A-SPEC – Review by Ben Lewis

Acura has been on the move lately. We’ve been continuously impressed with vehicles like the fun and agile ILX, the luxurious and swift RLX, and the MDX Hybrid, which was a tech tour de force. But of all the nice products, the best may be the all-new RDX. The RDX has had an interesting life. The original model was ahead of its time, coming in   2007 with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a very sporty chassis. Somehow along the way, though, the brand earned a reputation as nice, well turned-out cars, but a little bland for the enthusiast. 2016 Acura ILX COLORS – All Six Shades in Flawless Animated Turntables

The new 2016 Acura ILX A-Spec proves that the TLX was not a fluke — Acura is indeed on a roll. The A-Spec ILX is priced from $32,000 and includes a sportier body kit, sill extensions, a rear spoiler and foglamps in the deeper front bumper. It is also sportier inside with a dark headliner and alloy accents for the pedals. So, which color to choose? There are six shades available, but it looks like Basque Red II is not available for the A-Spec trim. No official word on when the new ILX will arrive in showrooms, but we’d shoot …

2016 Acura ILX A-SPEC Makes Credible, Playful and Chic Audi A3-Fighter

The first-gen Acura ILX did not do it for us. It seemed too much like a lightly-upfitted Civic to really turn heads, and its design never appealed much either. But for 2016, the ILX takes huge advances on the performance, style and tech realms. The new eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic is a peppy and responsive playmate for the 201-horsepower 2.4-liter engine, while even the new design is actually quite cool. ILX is bit more handsome than the Audi A3? What is happening!?! Even the much-maligned Acura single-bar grille is suddenly much cooler, with a sharp and three-dimensional new shape making it …

Update2 – 550HP+ 2016 Acura NSX World Premiere in 95 Images

Updated 1.13.2015 With 20 new photos What really strikes you after first viewing the new NSX is how incredibly stylish and lean its design is. At first glance, it seems an exact copy of the concepts we’ve seen over the years. But that is not actually true. The nose is dramatically cleaned-up, with the chrome bar now subtle and mounted right at the hood’s leading edge. Previously, it was below the hood and had black space above it — creating the unpopular beak face many have hated on Acuras recently. Beyond that refinement, there is also a full lower aero …

2014 Scion iM Concept Heading for US Showrooms in 2015 to Battle GTI and Focus ST

Scion is looking to expand its model range in calendar 2015 with two new models: one based on the Mazda2 sedan, and the other being this remarkably cool 5-door hatch shown in LA as the iM concept. You might be asking yourself if the production iM, set to be revealed in NY in April 2015, overlaps with the xB and xD. We certainly were. But we believe the answer is that the iM production car will be more advanced in the chassis department and more powerful than Scion’s box-car twins. This means a more-modern automatic transmission than the four-speeds in …

LA Teasers! Scion iM Concept Car Previews New tC + 2016 Acura ILX + Prius V Facelifts

First look this morning at the very promising Scion iM concept car for Los Angeles! The ‘iM’ name of this hot new Scion prototupe is a reference to the brand’s new Driven campaign, with fans and Scion drivers encouraged to tweet with the #iMdriven hashtag to show some love. (Not to be confused with Range Rover’s #IamDriven contest .. which we did not win. A skydiver from ‘ellay’ won the trip to Carmel.) So what is this Scion iM concept? It appears to be a hotter and more-aggressive sports car. The deep scoops and lighting elements are heavily FR-S-influenced, as …

Road Test Review – 2015 Acura TLX 2.4L Is Seriously Good Fun: Quick, Lux and Nimble

Just like delivering a compliment is easy and second-nature, writing a good car’s review is remarkably easy and refreshing. It feels great to give praise, and the words come flowing out. Alternatively – delivering bad news tactfully in a car review requires much more graceful delivery. You must plan your points carefully so they are constructive and helpful. The 2015 Acura TLX firmly falls into the easy compliment category. Say what you will — and what I have written — about the Acura nose in the last few years: this 2015 TLX absolutely blew me away with its amazing combination …

2015 Acura TLX Media Launch Brings 100 New Photos, Pricing, Colors and Specs – $31k Base Price

The 2015 TLX is off to a roaring start! Eventually replacing both the current TL and the TSX sedan, the new TLX has three powertrains to entice shoppers away from the Lexus IS, BMW 320i, Mercedes-Benz CLA250 and Audi A3/A4. The base pricing looks extremely reasonably for such a swoopy and aggressive sedan design. From just $31,000 for the front-drive four-cylinder, to $about $35,000 for the front-drive V6, and up to a base of $41,450 for the loaded SH-AWD TLX V6 with its standar Tech package. Style-wise, the four-cylinder and V6 TLX’s both look low and sharp and all-new – …

Concept to Reality – Acura TLX Prototype vs. TLX GT Racer vs Real 2015 TLX Production Car

Updated June 18, 2014 Yes, yes — the real TLX is out already so this preview concept is not very relevant anymore. But it is very attractive and desirable, in a way that bodes really well for the upcoming production TLX as a 2015 model from Acura. We have compared the two in detail (prototype versus real thing) and the sheetmetal is (almost) all shared between the two road cars. The shaping of the rear fender strake in profile is less artful in the production model. The TLX GT takes a wide-body fender treatment and has pronounced air vent cut-outs …

Acura TLX GT Racecar Boosts 2015 TLX Launch with 500HP Twin-Turbo SH-AWD

Anticipation of the all-new 2015 Acura TLX is building this summer, with shoppers from within and outside the Acura/Honda fold curious about the slinky style and new tech on offer in these mid-size luxury sedans. What better way to really establish some new performance credibility and an all-out racecar version? Sure, it might be a popular strategy for making an upcoming production car seem fast and exciting, but it is popular for a reason. Why? It works! Just look at this lowered, aero-optimized and super-rapid TLX GT Race Car! One peek from any angle shows a hardcore side of Acura’s …

Road Test Review – 2014 Acura MDX SH-AWD Is Premium and Posh 7-Seat Cruiser

Let’s say you are on a road trip. But you are in the back seat! Ahhh! You are not just a grown-up like Tom Hanks in BIG. You are just a large, tired human. Best stretch-out-comfy cabin this side of Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class? The Acura MDX. New for this year, the MDX really excels in its smooth, confident and quiet luxury crossover mission. A Love Note to Honda, from Special Features Editor Chris May

Written By Special Features Editor Chris May A Love Note to Honda: We are on a Break Let’s get this out there right now, I really like Honda. I have owned 6 Hondas over the course of 10 years and current have 2 still in my driveway. I have an RSX-S that is my track toy and of course like any good fan-boy, the Ridgeline to trailer it to events. Now before you assume I don’t buy other marks, over the course of the last 10 years, I have also owned a BMW M3 (E46) and two family cars in …

Fixing the Acura Woodchuck Nose Is Easy – Speculative Design Renderings Without Shield Nose Piece

It is not fun to review a car that … is … not living up to its potential. Many cars that should be good are not. Design is important from my vantage because I have not been wined/dined on some swanky launch event. Those types of personal relationships with the people behind the car tend to water down most of the harsh critiques. But your humble scribe must share these views on behalf of you, the little guy! Little guy? C’mon now. Big Boss Hog is more like it! Car buyers make or break any brand — not the writing …

How Much More Wood Can The Acura Woodchuck Chuck? 2015 Acura TLX Is Most-Important Launch This Year for Ailing Lux Honda Arm

The 2015 TLX is so important to Acura’s proclaimed renaissance that its importance is hard to overstate. While thew latest dullard RLX fails to wow just about anyone, its new ad campaign proclaims that “Yes, We Are There Yet.” We Are? That is a concern on many levels because there is a distinctly hollow and untrue ring to that slogan. The RLX suffers from lackluster appeal due to its inexplicable failings next to the Honda Accord, of all unlikely competitors. THe Accord is generally larger in all interior dimensions, and even a bit quicker in the sprint via a V6 …

INFINITI Q50 Upping Pressure on BMW With Aggressive New Turbo Engines — 2.0L Turbo for Europe … or 560HP GT-R V6 for US!

Okay, that is not super fair. The European market is also a sure thing for the Q50 Eau Rouge, which runs a 560-horsepower twin turbocharged engine that is closely related, if not the exact same, as what powers the upgraded 2014 Nissan GT-R. But the bigger news may be down at the lower end of the range: Europe is the first market to benefit from a new sharing deal with Mercedes-Benz. Infiniti will borrow the brand-new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is seeing duty, or will soon see action, in everything from the CLA250 to the E250. So, the Infiniti Q50 …

2015 Acura NSX Set for Goodwood Debut — REAL Pre-Production Model — Plus! Dream Colorizer — 150 Shades of Hybrid Supercar

The NSX Concept is still making the rounds in near-production form — but there is big news on near-term horizon. Our prediction? The New NSX will debut in production form this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in late June of this year. While the debut is only confirmed so far as the “prototype,” we have reason to believe this prototype is actually the real pre-production car. Why is this our prediction? Some inside info or a hot tip? I wish. No — we are working on a hunch. Informed by just historical data, careful analysis of the wording …

DIY Car Mods Series — Plasti-Dip Your Chrome or Painted Grille Matte Black

Part Six of a new ‘DIY Car Mods’ series. Definitely some really trashy stuff included in this series of articles. But what is the best/worst part of modifying your own car? No matter the price of the upgraded parts — you have zero guarantee they will perform as promised, or even fit. So please take all these with a hefty dose of salt. Ideally, these are just ideas based on what has “stuck” on my car’s cosmetic refresh list over the years. Many, many even trashier upgrades have been installed and later removed from deep shaming by car-guy pals. And …

Supercar Preview – 2015 Acura NSX – Official Concepts Gallery + Renderings

An exciting day of Honda and Acura news here at CarRevsDaily. The previous Honda Design article highlights some of the great styling coming out of Honda recently, including the limo-length FCEV and now the production-ready Vezel based on 2013’s Honda Urban SUV Concept. The great news is: the styling finally makes sense, looks good, and has personality. So, while wondering aloud about Honda and Acura’s future NSX earlier today: I decided to collect all four of the latest NSX concepts together in one post. The car is being engineered and built in Ohio, versus Japan, which is huge news. This …

Acura TLX Prototype Is Actually Quite Handsome + New 8-Speed and 9-Speed Transmissions

The 2015 TLX concepts from the Detroit show are packing huge advancements under that newly-stylish profile. In fact, this front or AWD sedan is on the bleeding edge of technology across all Honda and Acura models. How? —  New eight-speed twin-clutch automatic for the 2.4-liter —  New nine-speed torque converter auto for the 3.6-liter V6 Certainly raised my eyebrows, in a good way! As does the styling. Despite sharing many family traits with terminal RLX sedan, the TLX prototype is really quite handsome. The once-controversial grille has even evolved into a much more cohesive and attractive shape. Organic flow replaces …
