Dodge Brings Three Rows To Hellcat Party With 2021 Durango Hellcat:

Ever wonder what would happen if the Dodge Durango received the 6.2 liter supercharged Hellcat V8? Enthusiasts have always wondered that as well, and for a long time, the Durango stood out as the black sheep offering, with the rest of FCAs big car and SUV lineup all getting Hellcat powered variants. But at last, the wait is finally over for the Durango Hellcat and what a beast it is. The exterior styling of the Durango surprisingly plays it safe, with Dodge designers opting for a mild refresh instead of an all out rethink. The bulk of this tweaking is …

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser – Off-Road Test Review – By Matt Barnes

What can be said about the 200 series Land Cruiser that hasn’t already been said? It’s been around since 2008 and has only had a few meaningful changes since then. For 2020, there is an all new Heritage Edition that removes the rear seats and center armrest cooler and adds a roof rack, BBS forged wheels, and special badges. Other than that, little has changed from the 2019 model year. For our review, Toyota sent us a base model Land Cruiser for a week. Keep in mind the base model Land Cruiser starts at over $85,000 and there is only …

Ford has been having a very rough ride when it comes to formally unveiling the 2021 Bronco. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly affected all aspects of life, and we sympathize with Ford on its continuing efforts to unveil the SUV. With some light emerging at the end of the tunnel, the Bronco was supposed to finally make its debut on July 9th, but Ford has revealed that it was forced to formally push the Bronco’s debut forward a few more days. The delay this time stems from the July 9th date happening to fall on the same date as O.J. …

This included Ford and the upcoming 2021 Bronco. The Bronco was originally supposed to debut earlier this year, but recent events forced the company to scrap those plans. But despite this, the Bronco is still one of the hottest debuts of the year, and Ford has revealed that the model will finally …

2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro – Off-Road Review – By Matt Barnes

Of course, there have been updates here and there over time, but there hasn’t been a major redesign in 12 years. For 2020, Toyota has introduced the TRD Pro trim level to the Sequoia. Like all other TRD Pro vehicles, the Sequoia has upgraded suspension components and a few unique color and trim items. Exterior No matter how you look at it, the Sequoia is a beast. But other than making its rounds on the auto show circuit as well as visiting select Land Rover showrooms in the U.S. (our local dealer had one visit earlier this year) U.S. buyers have been waiting a very long time to get their hands on one. 2021 Cadillac Escalade To feature Super Cruise, $2500 Option Expands Availability Of Revolutionary Technology

Cadillac’s innovative Super Cruise technology has had a very rocky launch since it was first formally unveiled in the CT6 sedan a few years ago. But that’s all changing now, with the 2021 Escalade being the next recipient of the technology according to a report from the Cadillac Society forum. According to the site’s report, Cadillac plans to make Super Cruise optional on all but the base model Escalade for the 2021 …

However, the Navigators that followed failed to maintain this initial momentum, with the situation growing increasingly dire in 2015 when the refreshed third generation Navigator appeared. Lacking the precision and attention to detail that had become a staple of the fore-mentioned Escalade, that iteration …

Hyundai Unveils Luxurious Three Row Palisade In L.A.

Following a very meticulous teaser campaign that revealed an all new Hyundai three row SUV was indeed in the works to replace the long running and outgoing Santa Fe XL (as well as a sneak peek we received at a recent company event,) the Korean car giant has finally confirmed what many had suspected, the arrival of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The exterior styling of the Palisade is still very utilitarian, but Hyundai designers managed to incorporate plenty of lines and curves into the design. This is especially apparent in the front and rear fascias, with these areas featuring the …

2019 Subaru ASCENT Premium – Road Test Review – By Ben Lewis

We’ve always admired that Subaru stays true to its roots. A clever mix of marketing and engineering makes Subie owners set apart from the crowd. And in an age where so many brands seem to offer similar products, that difference is a fresh and welcome breeze. That said, Subaru doesn’t operate in a vacuum – they have to offer vehicles that buyers want. A perfect example is the 3-row crossover. Right now, that 7-passenger capability is a hot ticket, and we’ve seen everything from the new VW Tiguan to Kia Sorento stepping up to snag a bite of that apple. …

2019 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 – Road Test Review – By Matt Barnes

With a $125,000 base price, the Mercedes GLS 63 AMG is out of range for many people. For those who have the wherewithal and need to haul six people, it is an excellent — and perhaps only — choice. Featuring a hand assembled AMG 5.5 liter twin turbo (Mercedes calls it a biturbo) V8 with 577 horsepower and 561 torque, the GLS AMG has only one three-row performance competitor: the 475 horsepower Dodge Durango SRT 392.  [Audi is not bringing the diesel SQ7 to the USA.] When it comes to luxury, the Mercedes is at the top in this class. …

Hyundai Confirms Palisade Name For New Three Row SUV Ahead of LA Auto Show Debut

Hyundai has so far kept a very tight veil of secrecy surrounding its new 3-row flagship SUV with only a few light teasers, and a preceding concept hinting at its existence, but with LA fast approaching, the Korean car giant has finally confirmed a small slice of information, and revealed the official name for this very important utility offering, Palisade.   Depending on who you ask, the Palisade moniker is derived from a whole swath of inspiration. According to Hyundai, the name is inspired not only by a series of coastal cliffs, but also the strength of an ancient fortress. …

2018 Nissan ARMADA Platinum Reserve – Road Test Review

The new Nissan Armada is looking fresh and dapper — as well as huge — across the more affluent areas of the globe since 2017. Here is a machine that shares every panel with either the Infiniti QX80 or the global Nissan Patrol variant — but still has a fresh face that has the curb appeal of any of the jumbo SUVs in 2018 and beyond.  The new LED DRL lighting style in the headlamps is fresh and standard across the board, while the two-tone paintwork with contrasting fender extensions make a nice, slarry statement. At the end of the …

2018 Dodge Durango SRT 392 – Road Test Review + GIFs – By Matt Barnes

The SRT 392 Durango is by far the best-looking Durango produced to date. The SRT package takes the Durango from mundane to monstrous. As we spent more time with it, the Durango just kept growing on us to the point that we didn’t want to return it. Exterior It’s nice to know that the hood vents and scoop are real and have an actual purpose, something not seen on many vehicles today, performance or otherwise. The SRT 392 sits lower than the standard Durango and has a more aggressive stance with wider tires. The black dual racing stripes that run …

Road Test Review – 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander LE 2.4 S-AWC – By Carl Malek

Let’s face it, crossovers and SUVs have become the new normal for many American families often serving as a replacement for the family sedan (oh how the times have changed.) However, amid the sea of established entries from the likes of Chevrolet, Hyundai, Toyota, and Ford one plucky underdog is still hanging in there, Mitsubishi. The company once known for performance cars (as well as being recently taken over by Nissan) is banking its future on being green, and finally embracing the utility vehicle sales trend. With the Eclipse Cross currently dominating the headlines, can the Asian firm’s other SUV …

While the bulk of the spotlight is centered around the growing family of Hellcat powered offerings in its stable, as well as the limited production Dodge Demon, SRT has not forgotten about its other models. One of these is the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT which aims to transform an already competent …

Following three years of teasers, speculation, and spy shots, Rolls Royce has at long last unveiled its first ever SUV, the 2019 Rolls Royce Cullinan which aims to bring Bentayga fighting power, luxury, and opulence to the growing elite luxury SUV segment. Taking its name after the largest single diamond ever discovered on the planet, the Cullinan is a symbol of the future for Rolls Royce, which was once known for being exclusively a manufacturer of traditional automobiles. Even Rolls Royce officials realized that there was a sizable profit to be made in SUVs, and have adjusted accordingly by bringing …

Road Test Review – 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST – By Carl Malek

Remember when sport SUVS once ruled the automotive landscape? Indeed in the 90’s and early 2000’s there was a period in time when these muscle bound behemoths were the proverbial jewels in the pocket books of the Detroit Big Three. But once gas prices rose, and the economic recession took hold, the segment went out with a whimper, and nearly disappeared. With a new era of cheap oil and a revived interest in SUVs, the segment has bounced back, and has produced a new crop of entries. One of these is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST, but can this new …

Road Test Review – 2018 Audi Q7 3.0T – By Carl Malek

With the way crossover entries have evolved over the past several decades, automakers are scrambling to keep more established entries relevant as the segment rapidly evolves. One of these is the venerable Audi Q7 which is the biggest and most opulent (for the moment) entry fielded by the German luxury car giant. When it first appeared in the U.S. back in 2007, it represented a seismic shift for Audi, and turned the once car focused brand into a more balanced juggernaut. As for the Q7, it was a key entry in Volkswagen’s greater ploy towards expanding its diesel lineup. This …

2018 VW Atlas V6 SEL Premium w/ 4Motion – Road Test Review + Video

A recent comment on our amazing VW Atlas youtube drive review has really stuck in my craw. “Atlas is not a Tahoe competitor,” they say. “Atlas competes with Pilot and Highlander, dude,” is the refrain. And I used to agree with these guys. On paper, Atlas with its seating for 8 and pricing from $30k, might seem like a natural rival to car-based midsize crossovers.  It even runs a standard turbo four and front-wheel drive, after all!  (Same for new Q7 on the turbo four…) But Atlas is so much more than a proper three-row rival to Explorer and Durango. …

Remember the movie Jurassic Park? This classic Steven Spielberg film highlighted what would happen if dinosaurs once again roamed the earth. While these creatures are thankfully extinct, in the automotive world, there are still a handful of relics that serve as a glimpse into an era of automobiles that is slowly being replaced by crossover vehicles and a newfound zeal for green motoring.
