When we last checked in with our friends at Morgan, they were teasing the future, shelving the V8 powered Aero, and promising a turbocharged future for their future models. With the Geneva Motor Show now upon us, Morgan has formally unveiled the fruits of their labor, with the all new Morgan Plus Six roadster which brings a number of new technologies to the Morgan brand. The exterior styling of the Plus Six may not look like its hiding much at first glance, with the Plus Six embracing the distinctively retro elements that have become an iconic calling card for the …

Concept Flashback – 2011 Unimog 60th Anniversary Design Concept

While we’re in the Unimog mood, here is a fun look back to the recent past for the 60 Years design concept. This sought to strip the Unimog to its core, function-required elements. Enhancing the insane wheel travel and semi-flexible chassis with showy red springs visible easily through the giant front fender/hood combination. Deconstruction and modernization are the clearest themes visible in this design. The bodywork is pared to the bare minimum, while the roll cage for the passenger cell becomes the only structural element of the open-air cabin. Similarly flowing new frame rails swoop upward around the rear suspension …

Volvo Reveals Polestar 2 EV Ahead of Geneva, Boasts 275 Mile Driving Range

These days, the various claims of companies unveiling “Tesla Killer” entries has become a consistent and borderline repetitive narrative in the automotive industry. But the continued success of the Model 3 sedan, as well as the Model X and S do symbolize the rapid and dominating presence that Tesla has managed to achieve in the marketplace. But that hasn’t stopped Volvo from unveiling its Model 3 competitor, and it appears that at long last, another automaker has managed to create a contender capable of waging war with the Model 3 on equal terms. Dubbed the Polestar 2, the new EV …

Toyota Teases Idea of Performance Focused Corolla Variants

Toyota’s revamped 2020 Corolla has already made great strides in eliminating the rather mundane reputation that it managed to earn for itself over the past several decades, with the recently launched Corolla hatchback being a viable enthusiast focused offering. However, Toyota knows that some Corolla buyers want a bit more of everything in their drive (bigger brakes, more power, etc) and a recent statement by a high ranking Toyota executive could indicate that spicier versions of the Corolla are indeed in the works. According to the Dutch auto enthusiast website AutoRAI, Toyota’s deputy chief designer Toshio Kanei appeared to reveal …

Volkswagen Infuses More GTI Magic and Golf R DNA Into 2019 Jetta GLI [Live Pics]

Volkswagen has alot riding on the current generation Jetta. While the newly updated Jetta brings a lot of good things to the iconic compact, the one thing that felt missing here was the absence of the range topping GLI variant. Volkswagen has taken note of this absence, and has formally unveiled the 2019 Jetta GLI at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. The exterior styling of the 2019 Jetta GLI follows the same motif as other iterations of the GLI, with the suit of clothes largely being shared with the standard Jetta. Electric Vehicle Growth Nearly every manufacturer has at least one electric vehicle in their lineup currently, and that trend will continue to grow in 2019. 2018 Nissan GTR50 Concept By ItalDesign – Goodwood FoS 2018 Debut

Very interesting collaboration here where ItalDesign was tasked with a re-skin a Nissan GT-R fully, inside and out, as a celebration of the car’s 50-year legacy. More than a reskin, even. Re-imagining? Reboot? Yes. Possible hints at next-gen model expected for the 2020 model year?  Yes of course.  But mostly this exercise just celebrates the GT-R’s essence and moves the vehicle noticeably upmarket.  Even as a $100k car the GT-R does lack the class and panache of true supercars, in some respects, with the current model’s workmanlike exterior and interior. How to go high-fashion without dulling the GT-R’s ace in …
