When Hyundai teased the next-generation Ioniq 6, it promised to redefine the EV segment with the revamped 6 building on some of the core building blocks that helped the original stand out from the EV crowd. The current generation model brought plenty of luxury, range, and style to the EV sedan ranks. The one thing that was missing was a formal performance model to accent the decent performance already offered by the dual-motor variants.
Hyundai appears to be ready to address this omission with the revamped model and the all-new N model which will add more spice to the driving experience when it makes its appearance alongside the rest of the lineup.
New teaser shines new spotlight on N model
When we last saw the N model, it was hiding in the background with only its rear end visible. The newest teaser from Hyundai also shows off the rear of the N but this time we get to see more of it and Hyundai officially confirmed the model via its Instagram page (we have provided the post in question below.)
Hyundai says it’s a “true high-performance electrified streamliner” with the new model getting a reworked rear end that includes a larger rear wing and a reworked trapezoidal-shaped extra brake light with the new unit moving from the spoiler to the rear glass. The N is based on the refreshed Ioniq 6 and as a result, split headlights are part of the package but look for the funky styling to hide pretty potent performance upgrades with the car possibly getting the same beefed-up battery pack and electric motors as the Ioniq 5 N. We expect it to retain the 5’s 641 hp but the lighter weight of the sedan could help it be a tad faster than its CUV counterpart.
Ioniq 6 N will ring in Summer
Hyundai says that the Ioniq 6 N will make its debut in July. The N’s appearance will come as Hyundai continues to move full steam ahead on its model plans with the N being preceded by the revamped 2026 Hyundai Palisade which will be making its debut in New York at the New York Auto Show.
Hyundai will unveil pricing around that time too but we suspect the Ioniq 6 N will be in the $60,000 range with the pricing ladder allowing it to be in the same price bracket as the Ioniq 5 N. This pricing will also allow the 6 to take on key performance rivals including the Tesla Model 3 Performance as the N attempts to defy a recent slump in EV demand and lure in buyers who might be looking to move away from troubled Tesla and into a new EV
