Volvo has a hit on its hands with the EX30 EV posting over 98,000 sales during its first year of production in 2024. But what if you’re looking for an EX30 that can handle rough terrain better and also have the appearance that it’s ready to take on the worst that life has to offer? If this sounds like you, Volvo thinks it has the solution with the unveiling of the 2025 EX30 Cross Country which promises to bring electrification to the trail when it makes its way to showrooms.
EX30 Cross Country is rugged and ready for adventure
While the core styling of the Cross Country carries over from the base model, the new model gets extensive black cladding, new skid plates, and model-exclusive 18-inch wheels with the tires being housed in chunkier wheel arches. The front grille panel also gets the black-out treatment with the piece including an integrated map with coordinates. a rugged roof basket rounds out the exterior changes.
Volvo also says it’s raised up the suspension of the EV but unlike other off-roaders, the CC’s lift is not easily discernible and it only amounts to 0.7-inches of extra clearance. The rear suspension itself has also been reworked for better ride quality but look for this CC to appeal to “weekend explorers.” as Volvo prefers to call the model’s target audience in its promotional material. Volvo didn’t announce EPA estimates for the model when it comes to range but the company did confirm the model can go up to 265 miles on a single charge when rated on the WTLP cycle though the chunkier all-terrain tires might put a dent in that figure when it’s translated to the EPA’s grading system. A 69 kWh battery pack is equipped to all models with the juice motivating two electric motors that produce a combined system output of 422 hp.
When can I buy an EX30 Cross Country?
Volvo confirmed the EX30 Cross Country is coming to the United States with the caveat being that pricing wasn’t released. When those figures are eventually released, look for the figure to be a noticeable premium over a base non-Cross Countyr EX30 which has a base price of $46,195 before fees and optional extras.
