The Porsche Panamera was originally one of the most controversial models that the German sports car company ever made when it made its appearance back in 2009. The four-door has since become a symbol of Porsche’s performance extremes and the new 2025 model brings two new flavors to buyers that want the best in four-door sedan performance, The GTS and the beefier Turbo S E-Hybrid.
Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid pushes the performance envelope
Taking its spot at the top of the Panamera pecking order is the Turbo S E-Hybrid. All models come equipped with a twin-turbocharged 591 hp V8 that’s paired with two electric motors producing another 187 hp. The whole system produces a combined system output of 771 hp which is a 81 hp improvement over its predecessor. Porsche says that the beefed-up hardware is enough to help the Panamera make its way to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds before topping out at 202 mph.
In addition to the hybrid system getting more power for the new model year, Porsche also revealed that the battery pack itself has increased its gross capacity to 25.9 kWh which helps enhance all-electric driving range. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard and the E-Hybrid gets 21-inch centerlock wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Buyers looking to add one to their garage will have to shell out $228,495 for one, but they can take comfort knowing that the E-Hybrid is a proven commodity with the car setting a track record at the famed Nurburgring race circuit in Germany.
GTS is the slightly milder version
Porsche also revealed the 2025 GTS model which is targeted to buyers that want a slightly milder performance experience. Unlike the E-Hybrid, a base GTS starts at a slightly less expensive $156,195 with destination and while the E-Hybrid is being marketed as the most powerful in the family, the GTS instead focuses on being the most agile thanks to its suspension upgrades and other revisions that focus on improving handling with the 493 hp V8 delivering enough muscle to still be fun but without overwhelming drivers in sharp corners.
The GTS is also a very popular trim level on other Porsche products and look for this popularity to continue with the Panamera version. Both models get reworked interiors with Porsche putting a stronger emphasis on improving material quality and technology.
When can I buy one?
The GTS and the Turbo S E-Hybrid will begin making their way to Porsche dealerships at the start of next year. The company is also embarking on a push towards electrification with the all-electric version of the Macan serving as the new spearhead in these efforts. As for the Taycan, rumors point to Porsche potentially axing the model due to slow sales.Â
