Ineos Unleashes Full Configurator For Grenadier, Also Starts Quartermaster Production

When Ineos first revealed that it was going to enter the off-road segment with the Grenadier SUV, we were curious to see what the SUV had in store for buyers. For a while, the multi-industry conglomerate only had a barebones configurator for potential buyers to play with. But that’s now changing with Ineos unleashing the full online configurator for the Grenadier SUV.

Trail Ready Performance and Classic Looks, What’s Not To Love?

As we reported prior, the Grenadier will come in three flavors: Base, Trailmaster Edition, and Fieldmaster Edition with pricing starting at $71,500, and $79,190 respectively. It’s a simple and straightforward pricing ladder with the Trail and Fieldmaster trims sharing the same MSRP. A BMW-sourced 3.0-liter inline-six makes 282 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic being the lone transmission on hand (sorry folks, no manual here.) All of this hardware and more is hidden underneath a retro-inspired body that’s blocky and comes with plenty of chunky angles and sharp squared-off corners. It looks sharp and it will undoubtedly stand out at your local trailhead.

In addition to the core essentials, Ineos also claims that the SUV is a flexible canvas for customization and the firm will be offering a massive pool of accessories and features designed to help add a unique touch of personality to the rig with even the Base model getting in on the act too. Climbing the trim levels also helps you get more equipment including a front-mounted snorkel, front and rear differential locks, a large roof rack, and an auxiliary battery with separate auxiliary switch panel.

Make Sure Your Wallet Goes Through Training First

With all of the capability and equipment that the Ineos Grenadier brings to buyers, it should come as no surprise that it comes at a price with your wallet getting a good workout when you go through the accessories list. As mentioned, the Grenadier will come with a large pool of accessories and optional extras which all work together to bump the price up depending on how the SUV is equipped. For example, the sleek Britannia Blue paintwork (our favorite Ineos color) is $580 while the nifty Safari window and the half roof rack at the rear are an additional $2,150 and $1,500 respectively. If you option one out all the way, look for prices to surpass the $90,000 barrier.

Other options on the list also make us scratch our heads when it comes to how much the company wants customers to pay for them to be added in. A prominent example of this is the $4,085 5.5-ton front-mounted winch. The winch has plenty of pulling power, but the cost to add it is higher than what we have seen in other off-roaders and it also cannot be combined with the integrated front tow receiver. Meanwhile, the compass and the integrated altimeter will set you back $315 (it’s standard in the other two trim levels.)

Lastly, Ineos is still working on establishing a strong nationwide dealer network and as a result, you will have to consult the company’s dealer locator to find one that’s closest to you. For example, the nearest Ineos sales and service center for Metro Detroit is just north of Chicago in Lake Bluff, Illinois (a 248-mile drive.) For now, the company is mainly focusing on establishing these sales and service locations in key markets but we hope that the network will expand to other areas to help create a bigger dragnet to help bring in more customers.

Quartermaster Starts Production

For now, the Ineos Grenadier will be a solo act in showrooms but that won’t be the case for long with the company also confirming that it has begun production of the Quartermaster pickup. The Quartermaster was teased sometime ago and it’s essentially a version of the Grenadier with the back half of the roof and the rear seats being replaced by a small cargo bed. The truck has begun rolling off the line at a factory in France which was also home to Smart car production before Ineos got the keys to the plant a few years back.

The Quartermaster will be available in the same three grades as the Grenadier but it will appear later in showrooms with European deliveries slated to begin this December with other markets (including the U.S.) getting their pickups shortly after.
