G90 vs LS500 Review and Comparison
The Genesis G90 E-Supercharger and the Lexus LS 500 F Sport are both luxury sedans that offer a premium driving experience, but they have distinct features and characteristics that set them apart. We had the chance to test these two back to back. Be aware that the Genesis had a significantly higher price tag than the Lexus, so while this is apples to apples, it’s maybe a pink lady apple to Gala apple comparison.
Performance
The G90 E-Supercharger boasts a powerful electric supercharged 3.5-liter V6 twin turbo engine that delivers impressive acceleration and ample power. With 409 HP and 405 lb.ft. of torque the G90 moves effortlessly. Despite being down on power and torque compared to the LS500, the G90 accelerates smoother and is quicker from a stop thanks to the supercharger. It provides a smooth and refined ride with good handling characteristics.
The LS 500 F Sport features a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 416hp and 442 lb.ft. of torque. The F Sport trim enhances the sporty driving experience with a more dynamic suspension setup and sport-tuned features. With decent turbo lag and a definite boost as the turbo spools up the Lexus V6 doesn’t feel like it’s at home in a full size luxury sedan. While the G90 handles well for its size, the LS500 F Sport goes well beyond that with curvy road performance.
Interior and Comfort: G90 vs LS500
Genesis is known for its luxurious interiors, and the G90 is no exception. The cabin is filled with high-quality materials, spacious seating, and a comprehensive list of features, including advanced technology and infotainment systems. Inside is where the extra cost of the G90 really stands out over the Lexus. Everything is just that much better in the Genesis. The leather is softer, there are more features, the sound system is clearer, etc. Even with seating for 5, the G90 has an excellent rear seat suite. The passenger side reclines with an extending leg support for the ultimate in comfort. The headrests have pillows and everything is heated and cooled. Many of these are optional upgrades on the LS500, so again, apples to apples, just different apples.
The LS 500 F Sport offers a comfortable and opulent interior with top-notch materials. It includes a wide array of advanced features, including a high-quality Mark Levinson sound system, making it a comfortable and stylish choice. The leather is thick but slick, seats are comfortable with normal levels of adjustability. Remaining true to its roots, the Lexus feels more durable and likely to outlast the G90, but with that some luxury is lost.
Technology
The G90 E-Supercharger is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a large infotainment touchscreen, a premium audio system, advanced driver assistance features, and a well-designed user interface.
Lexus also incorporates advanced tech features, including a user-friendly infotainment system, a premium audio setup, and a suite of safety and driver assistance systems, making it competitive in this aspect.
Pricing: G90 vs LS500
Pricing can vary based on trim levels, options, and regional factors. In our case the G90 came in at a higher MSRP than the Lexus. However, in general, the Genesis G90 is considered a more cost-effective option compared to its competitors in the luxury sedan segment.
The Lexus LS 500 F Sport is more of a driver based package. It has less luxury and better performance and many vehicles in this class.
