2025 Ram 1500 REV Shatters Expectations. 500 Mile Range and 654 Horsepower Setup Change The Game

When we first saw the 2025 Ram REV (aka Ram Revolution) it was during the Super Bowl and other than a few fleeting glimpses of the truck, we didn’t get to learn too many details about the technology lurking under the skin. Ram has delivered the goods and used the 2023 New York Auto Show to formally reveal the 2025 Ram 1500 REV and shatter what we should expect from a BEV pickup in the process.

Ram 1500 REV Is Capable of Going How Far?

Before we get into the other details that define the Ram 1500 REV we might as well focus on perhaps the biggest news making item here and that’s performance. While base REV models get a 168 kWh battery pack that allows the truck to go 350 miles on a single charge, our attention is on the optional long-range 229 kWh battery pack. This pack takes the range and shoots it all the way up to 500 miles. That’s unheard of in the BEV pickup segment and it trumps the Silverado RST, Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T. The Ram 1500 REV is powered by Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) that combine the electric motor, gearbox and invertor into one unified piece with an EDM placed on each axle.

This allows the REV to make up to 654 horsepower and the front mounted EDM has the ability to disconnect itself from the wheels which helps improve efficiency by letting them spin freely. The rear mounted one even comes bundled with an electronic locking differential. Ram also teased an XR version of the Ram 1500 REV but didn’t reveal much details beyond that confirmation. The active leveling air suspension has five different modes: Entry/Exit, Aero, Normal, Off Road 1 and Off Road 2 with each one tailoring the truck to a specific need.

Ram 1500 REV Interior Goes All In, Previews Refresh For ICE Models

The interior of the truck takes some of the core things that the Ram ICE gets right and builds upon it. A 12.3-inch digital cluster is standard while a massive 14.3-inch infotainment system is available on higher trim levels (a 12.0-inch screen is standard). The Ram even steals a trick from the Jeep Grand Wagoneer with the passenger getting a dashboard mounted 10.25-inch touchscreen. A 10.0-inch heads-up display and a video rear camera mirror are also included.

All of these updates also preview what could be in store for ICE powered Rams with those models being due for a refresh very soon. Some of the equipment and features that the Ram 1500 REV is previewing could eventually trickle down to those models as Ram attempts to keep the truck fresh against its domestic rivals. Storage is also in abundance in the REV with the truck not only maintaining the Ram Box bed side storage system but also adding a power operated frunk and a bed that can haul a wide range of items.

When Can I Buy One?

Production of the 2025 Ram 1500 REV will officially kickoff late next year with the first wave of orders being filled through 2025. The model will be available in five trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited and the range-topping Tungsten. Tungsten is making its debut as the new flagship trim and will reward buyers with a 23-speaker Klipsch stereo, power tailgate, suede headliner, metal trim and a special Indigo/Sea Salt color for the upholstery.

Ram revealed that it opened a second allocation window for buyers that missed their chance the first time around during the Super Bowl, but it’s unclear what trim levels will roll out first and if buyers have the option to move their reservation into a trim level that would be further down the ladder when production formally begins.
