The 2023 Mazda CX-50 represents a new future for Mazda with the SUV being the key building block in Mazda’s plans to rapidly expand their utility vehicle lineup. The latest member of the CX family brings alot to the table but the one thing that we didn’t know much about was pricing for the utility, but Mazda has changed that with a new announcement that finally reveals the full pricing picture.
More Equipment Comes With Higher Price Tag
The CX-50 will bring more equipment to the table for CX buyers and as a result, the pricing ladder here will be a bump up over the smaller CX-30 which we have compressed into this handy chart below.
Trim | Price (includes $1,225 destination) |
CX-50 2.5 S | $28,025 |
CX-50 2.5 S Select | $29,425 |
CX-50 2.5 S Select Preferred | $30,725 |
CX-50 2.5 S Select Preferred Plus | $33,165 |
CX-50 2.5 S Premium | $35,625 |
CX-50 2.5 S Premium Plus | $37,625 |
CX-50 2.5 Turbo | $37,625 |
CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium | $40,775 |
CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus | $42,775 |
The CX-50 2.5 S is the gateway model in the family but it’s far from being bare bones with this model coming with plenty of standard equipment. Some of these items include standard Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability, push-button start, and a suite of advanced safety equipment including lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
All-wheel drive is a standard issue (a trait shared with all CX models) but buyers looking for more power will have to move up to the $37,625 Turbo model which curiously also shares that figure with the 2.5 S Premium Plus trim. Turbo models go for a sportier motif and get dual exhaust pipes and even come with all LED lighting front and back.
CX-50 Turbo Meridian Edition Explores The Trails
In addition to the main CX-50 lineup, Mazda will also be releasing a trail-focused Meridian Edition variant of the Turbo. While we’ll have to wait a bit to see just how capable it is at light trail excursions, it’s known that it will come equipped with all-terrain tires, 18-inch wheels, a graphics package, as well as minor enhancements to select exterior pieces.
This model is obviously looking to try and go toe to toe with models like the Subaru Forester Wilderness as well as the Hyundai Tucson XRT. Mazda is also promising to add some upgrades to help it cash the checks that its rugged styling will advertise but we get to wait to find out the full scope of them as well as other things like pricing, release date, and more.
