Ram Unveils Three New Special Edition Ram Models, Spicy TRX Igntion Edition Leads The Charge

The State Fair Of Texas has unofficially become ground-zero for the pickup wars with the Domestic Big Three (Ford GM and Ram) using the festivities to show off their latest wares. Ram has chosen to go to a familiar but welcome chapter in their playbook with a wave of special edition models, with the trio being led by the Ram TRX Ignition Edition

TRX Ignition Edition Adds Bright Color To Unchanged Performance Hardware

The 2022 Ram TRX Ignition Editon leads the way, which adds some unique trim applications to the truck. The firebreathing 702 hp Hellcat V8 and the performance essentials are untouched, but the exterior benefits from a new hue called Ignition Orange and an accompanying graphics package. The truck also comes with 18-inch matte black wheels and adds other popular options like the bed-mounted Ram Bar, panoramic sunroof, and more.

The interior of the truck is also essentially unchanged when compared to its base source material. Still, the Ignition Edition replaces the red accents with Copperhead Orange accents, including the stitching, copper carbon fiber accents, orange-hued TRX logos on the seatbacks, and an orange-hued TRX plaque on the center console. This model is designed to be an exciting platform for vehicle personalization, but it will also be a rare breed of the dinosaur, with Ram only building 875 examples before production ends. Each example (if you can find one at your local Ram dealer) will start at $91,585, which also comes with a bundled $1,695 destination fee.

Southfork and Ram Red Editions Bring Up The Rear

Following up on the act presented by a bright orange Hellcat-powered TRX is a tough order for any truck, but the Southfork Limited and Ram (RED) editions do their best to do just that. The Southfork is a returning cast member, but unlike the 2021 model, this iteration moves from the Laramie model up to the Limited trim. Replacing the Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary model, Southfork models focus on adding more luxury, adding metal trim pedals, a deployable bed step, a spray-in bed liner, and a standard Mountain Brown leather interior.

In addition to the brown interior, the cabin also adds other welcome add-ons, including suede door inserts that come with a center-mounted leather accent with a laser-cut metal accent and standard bucket seats. Unlike the TRX, Ram is not putting a number cap on it, and customers will be pleased to hear that it starts at $63,315, which is before you add the $1,695 destination fee.

Bringing up the rear is the Ram RED Edition, part of Stellantis’s broader partnership with the RED organization to help the Global Health Fund fight health emergencies. The RED Edition is also being used on select Jeep and Fiat models, and just like those two, the Ram (RED) edition is a pretty straightforward package. It adds red accents to several parts of the truck, including a red mounted Ram badge in the front grille (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer would be proud.) The interior also has several red accents splashed throughout. Ram revealed that the package can also be equipped to Limited Crew Cab models with buyers choosing from either the two Hemi V8s on hand or the green-tinged EcoDiesel with these models starting at $64,945.

Ram revealed that all three special edition models will be making their way to showrooms later this year. Special Edition models like these have always been a trademark move for Stellantis over the years, and they have been a reliable sales generator for the company. The Ram Ignition model, in particular, will be a very potent halo model for the few dealerships that will be privileged enough to have one in their lots.
