Ford Mustang Mach-E Ready For All Of Mother Nature’s Wrath In New Video [Video]

While the bulk of the United States is supposed to be in spring, freak winter weather in the northern parts of the country are subtly reminding buyers that the specter of winter is never too far away. Ford used the unique meteorological opportunity to release a new video that provides some unique insight into the Mach-E’s testing regimen as well as an example of its all weather prowess.

The video in question places the spotlight on its all-wheel drive system, with the Mach-E featured being tasked with going through very snowy terrain. The white and the red mixing together produces a very pleasing visual, but the all-wheel drive system is the real star of the show here with the system doing a very good job of displaying its abilities. To really push the CUV to its limits, Ford took the Mach-E to the Smithers Winter Test Center which is an 800 acre test facility deep in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The region gets its fair share of snow during the winter, and Smithers is a very popular location for many automakers not only due to the sheer remoteness of the area, but also the wild winter weather shifts which helps create a very dynamic testing ground.

Unsurprisingly, all-wheel drive is the most popular option for the Mach-E, with Ford execs revealing that it is especially popular in Northern and Midwest states. However, an interesting plot twist takes place in the New England area, where virtually all the pre-order logged were for front-wheel drive. The Mach-E has rapidly emerged as one of the most hotly anticipated Ford products of the year, with the company filling all of its slots for the first wave of pre-orders. The Mach-E is also a very interesting chapter in Mustang history, with the EV not only being the first electrified offering to wield the Mustang nameplate, but also the first CUV Mustang to be offered to the buying public. Look for the first examples to make their way to showrooms later this year, with the full roll out not expected to be completed until the middle part of 2021.
