Hearing and feeling the 911 GT3 RS pull a smooth-yet-violent launch start followed by savage fullthrottle all the way to 180-mph was a life highlight we got to enjoy this weekend.
Granted, the queasy stomach feeling from all the launch and acceleration G-force did ruin me for mere mortal vehicles. Even Focus RS felt a but slow getting out of this Porsche.
The other most memorable element? The ring in your ears from the boxer six at full chat. Not sure if it is the fuel pumps or the simple engine harmonics — but this is a heavenly sound that sticks with you. We’ve only heard it seldomly in ultra-high-performance cars. First hint of this whirring, blaring harmony was heard in the Lexus GS-F the other month. But the Lexus was only at redline making this sound for a few seconds at a time.
The 911 GT3 RS let you dive into this sensory pool for the full duration of its massive runway sprint.
The GT3 RS has an official top speed of 202-mph. We came close! About 180-mph on the closed US Navy straightaway could put a grin on the grim reaper’s face. So much fun.
These vids are short but sweet. Start off by enjoying the shrieking launch control starts and then watch HD GoPro from inside the cabin.
