A bit of a motley and fun collection in the short list of entrants to the RM Sotheby’s Arizona 2016 auction so far.
But there is an undeniable charm to the cars offered so far. These two, for example, are separated by 25 years. Yet they feel like kindred spirits all the same.
Similarly, they are supercars you could imagine taking to the beach, grocery store and everywhere in between. Though both appear ruthlessly original and OEM inside and out, they could be quickly updated to modern styles via trim and wheel color tweaks. Painting up the 512 TR’s black sills to body-color, for example, would work wonders on the modern look and feel of the mid-engine V12. Its side intake slats will always draw a crowd either way, though.
Our pick? It has to go to the 1976 Turbo — with its absolutely lavish cabin luxury, pioneering turbo powertrain, and whale tail in back.
Although, that being said, some of the photos taken of the Porsche at a mechanic’s garage do not inspire a ton of daily-driver confidence….
