Rolls-Royce Wraith – Color Showcase – Carrara White
Oh. Wow. In case you did not already want to murder me for spending a day driving Wraith all over Scottsdale, Arizona last week, you will definitely feel pangs of something seeing these latest images.
Wraith in Carrara White is simply breathtaking. The fleet last week was mostly darker shades, but this is the color.
It is quite similar to a lovely milky shade that is new from Audi this year, in what they call Carrera White. (Carrera with an “e” versus an “a” in Carrara White.)
Carrara White
These are highly advanced new paints, likely from BASF or the specialists who prepared the 2005 Maserati Birdcage show car. Older paint styles were more durable than today’s water-based paints, so it takes special chemical engineering to make it look this good.
This new white is so far from the old “work van” or kitchen appliance white — that it is easy to see why white is now the absolute fastest-selling color on all American dealer lots.
White is the New Orange?
Color preferences take flights of fancy very often, in cycles like the fashion business. But silver and black-tones have basically split the pie until recently.
The new white is premium, always stays cooler in the sun, and matches the ocean-front lifestyles of many owners very nicely.
Rolls-Royce is absolutely un-rivalled in terms of the attention to detail during design, assembly, delivery and service.
LED-lit Spirit of Ecstasy – Detail
Paintwork falls into this obscenely excellent category as well.
The techniques used in the Goodwood factory of Rolls-Royce as long, labor-intensive, and very expensive. In the time it likely took to paint, repaint, buff, repaint, bake… etc this single Wraith:
More than 400 VW Golf’s would have already been finished completely an in buyer hands.
Perhaps not that extreme, but Wraith proudly dislays impeccable finish thanks to this ‘multi-week, dozens-of-layers’ painting process.
Enjoy.
These images are never-before-published, but will likely be in every magazine in a few months.
Special thanks to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
