We are hesitant to post this Shelby Series One due to lack of high-resolution photos, but the car is so rare and special it really deserves a quick post. Headed for the block at this Friday and Saturday’s first-ever Mecum Auction in Austin, Texas, the Shelby Series One is a rare chance to buy into a selective club of Shelby owners. As rare as many GT350 and GT500 Mustang models seem, they are a dime a dozen compared with the 1998-2003 Series One.
Quoted at 320-horsepower from its 4.0-liter V8, the Series One rockets to 60-mph in a claimed 3.2-seconds. Impressive, surely. The owner will be driving one of 249 models made in the official production run. A few more component models sans engines were made in 2005, and a supercharged version was tested but never produced.
