Amazing racing liveries from Honda UK today!
Completed designs came from Honda Heroes racing drivers themselves — so the results are more “Memphis Bell” than they are the Warhol BMW M1.
This is no bad thing! Amazing ideas here that look great on this sweet bike. The winning design from the contest link below will see racing action, with a possible road bike CBR1000RR Fireblade in the same warpaint.

Honda (UK) has this week launched a competition for fans to choose their favourite BSB livery design from eight submitted by a very special group of budding artists, including seven ‘Honda Heroes’. The winning design will make its debut on the track in the form of the Brands Hatch BSB Fireblade at the final meeting of this season from 17th-19th October.
Those wishing to take part simply need to visit www.honda.co.uk/ultimatefireblade where they can view each design and vote for their favourite, with the chance to win some special prizes including two VIP tickets to the Brands Hatch BSB season curtain-closer, a photograph of themselves with the bike and Honda Racing BSB rider Julien Da Costa; a limited edition 20th Anniversary Fireblade plaque, and much more.
The artists were tasked with coming up with a livery covering the fairing, fender, tank and tail. The eight designs, all given names by their designers, are as follows:
-
Thorpedo – Dave Thorpe (Three times World Motocross Champion)
-
Fly the Flag – Ron Haslam (Three times World GP and four times British GP Champion)
-
Race Memories – Leon Haslam (PATA Honda – World Superbike Championship)
-
FS3 – Jason O’Halloran (Honda Racing – National Superstock Championship)
-
Brands Hatch Kamikaze! – James Toseland (2007 World Superbike Champion with Ten Kate Honda)
-
Blue Lightning – Conor Cummins (Honda Racing – Isle of Mann TT)
-
Jaws – Matt Neal (Honda Yuasa Racing – British Touring Car Championship)
-
The Paper Boy – Steve Hunt (Senior Web Producer, MCN)
The competition comes ahead of Honda (UK)’s return to the British Superbike Championship in the 2015 season, and on the back of the nostalgic ‘Urban Tiger’ livery which first appeared at Snetterton in June and is now on sale in the form of the Limited Edition Urban Tiger 2014 CBR1000RR Fireblade.
Nick Campolucci , Head of Motorcycles for Honda (UK) comments: “As we look forward to returning to full competition in BSB for the 2015 season we thought we’d have a bit of fun by putting the artistic skills of our Honda Heroes to the test. They’ve all certainly made valiant attempts and we look forward to finding out who the fans crown as their winning designer!”
The competition is now live at www.honda.co.uk/ultimatefireblade, with voting open until Friday 19th September. Plenty of other prizes are also up for grabs, including tickets for BSB rounds and Motorcycle Live, Honda caps and the ever-popular but elusive Honda sunglasses.
The ‘Urban Tiger’ will be making an appearance at Donnington Park this weekend for the 9th round of BSB.
