When it comes to performance, the V-Series badge is usually a sign that the Cadillac adorned with it is offering something special for its occupants. From the blown V8s that defined the bulk of the brand’s early models, to the electrified future that will be spearheaded by the Lyriq-V, the V badge has become a proverbial badge of honor.
It wasn’t known what Cadillac will bring to the table after the brand unveiled the spicy Lyriq-V but the brand teased the answer and confirmed that the next V-Series model will be the Optiq-V.
Optiq-V will be the next flavor of V-Series performance
That smaller package will come in the form of the Cadillac Optiq-V with the upcoming model being the newest member of the V-Series portfolio. To earn V-eligibility, the Optiq had to excel in precision, and possess a dynamic suspension and tight steering to provide an exhilarating driving experience, Cadillac officials say in a brief release.
The release also came with two teaser images and while we get to wait until later to learn more about the Optiq-V, the two images appear to show that the Optiq will get several changes for V duty with the front fascia getting a reworked front bumper and the rear of the EV getting a new spoiler. These glimpses seem to indicate that Cadillac will put a serious effort into improving the functional details but we’ll have to wait until more images and information appear to help get a broader understanding of what Cadillac is up to.
New model will expand Cadillac’s EV portfolio
Cadillac’s attempts at radio silence also mean that details about the performance upgrades remain a mystery. We suspect the dual-motor layout will continue to be used but it remains to be seen just how much power the V will get when compared to the standard version. In addition, the V will also have competent underpinnings to work with with the V benefitting from some of the advanced engineering we got to experience in San Francisco. With the standard Optiq already benefitting from time spent testing in Germany, it will be safe to assume the V version will continue to push the Optiq into a sportier direction.
As for the V-Series badge itself, it too will be at a crucial crossroads in its history with the series moving away from ICE powerplants and into electrification. This move will need to be as smooth as possible since the V-Series is still a strong seller and the last thing Cadillac needs is for customers to move away from them and to other brands if these V-Series models can’t live up to the reputation established by their predecessors
