Karma’s Amaris Combines Range-Extension With a Coupe Body

When we last checked in with Karma Automotive, the company was continuing to push itself forward in the green vehicle wars with the company releasing the GS-6 which was a variant of the Revero (an improved version of the Fisker Karma.) However, the company knows that it has to keep developing new products in order for it to weather the storms of uncertainty that are building in its future. The company has done so with the firm unveiling the Amaris a new offering that pushes Karma into a new direction.

Amaris points the way to a new beginning

Unlike the Revero and the GS-6, the Amaris is a noticeable evolution of the company’s all-aluminium space frame with the Amaris featuring bodywork that’s aluminum and carbon fiber panels. The exterior design is a smoother and more modern interpretation of the Revero but it also pitches some of the lingering connections that it had with the old Fisker Karma. A slick set of 22-inch wheels helps add more edge to the Amaris’s styling and a side exit exhaust allows the Amaris to take a nod from recent supercar entries.

The company chose to not reveal any pictures of the interior for now but Karma confirmed that while the Amaris will continue to have a four-cylinder engine which will serve as a range-extender, it will be a potent powertrain with the Amaris projected to make the spring to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds before topping out at 165 mph. That top speed is considerably more than the paltry 125 mph top speed fielded by the GS-6 and the Revero.

Changes are coming elsewhere

In addition to the Amaris, Karma also confirmed that other changes are coming to the lineup. The Gyesera for example was supposed to debut as a pure BEV offering but with more customers shunning EVs and the market going through a period of slumping sales and demand, Karma has chosen to make it a hybrid model instead. Karma’s move is far from being unique, with countless other automakers being forced to make similar changes to their lineups to adjust to market demand.

In addition, the Kaveya EV is being delayed with the 1,000 hp EV now expected to be launched in 2027 with the company shifting its focus on other projects including the Amaris. Karma president Marques Mcommon confirmed Karma wants to build a lineup of models “that will deliver exceptional EV torque and performance paired with worry-free cruising range…” This mantra has always defined the company for years but the moves that the firm has made in adjusting to changing market conditions indicate it’s taking the needs of its customers very seriously especially as it moves into the next chapter of its history.
