2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited review by Ben Lewis

If we said you can get a Lexus at Toyota prices, would you be interested? OK, there’s some status value with that shapely L on the hood, and those dealerships sure are pretty. But how much are you paying for that? With the all-new 2025 Toyota Crown Signia you get a real luxury experience at a surprisingly great MSRP.

Interested? Let’s take a look.

Handsome Wagon

First impressions are very positive. We already liked the Crown’s sedan sibling with a raised sedan look, and while Toyota calls the Signia an SUV, it really looks more like a tall wagon, with a shorter greenhouse and sleek lines. And we got loads of compliments from passersby.

From the front, the looks are bold and aggressive, with a large monochromatic grille, side gills and ultra slim LED lamps, with a bulgy hood adding some visual muscle.

The profile is probably our favorite view, with a steeply raked A-pillar, kicked up rear window and a sleek flowing line from nose to tail. The muscular front is echoed in wide fenders, sharply cut-in doors, and lower blacked-out trim on the wheel wells and beneath the doors. Finishing off the eye candy are massive 21-inch alloy wheels that give real presence.

The rear keeps the polished look coming with a lit horizontal bar spanning the entire width, and slender back up lights echoing the front lamps. We like the elegance of C R O W N spelled out in big block letters, while a lower glass black fascia gives added ruggedness. Bringing it all together was our tester’s Storm Cloud paint, a creamy grey that’s all the rage right now. All summed up, the Crown looks upscale, aggressive and premium.

Leather-lined Goodness

Inside, the Lexus with a Toyota badge theme continues, with a rich look.

First impressions are spaciousness with a wide horizontal dash with dual monitors creating a sweeping display. A tall center console separates the driver and passenger, and it looks luxe, with a rich two-tone with tan leather on the heated and ventilated front seats, and matching trim across the lower dashboard, console and door panels. Unique to the Crown Signia are bronze metallic finished accents that are subtle, but oh, so tasteful. You feel surrounded in goodness.

The controls feel equally upscale, with a thick leather-wrapped wheel and stubby shift lever which we’ll gladly take over the toggle switch some other manufacturers seem to be enamored with.

Info-tainment is leading edge, with dual 12.3-inch screens. The Crown Signia features a fully digital gauge cluster, piano controls, and is modern and crisp, provides plenty of info and even shows up a small version of the map when you’re using the navigation. Because of the hybrid powertrain that often goes into EV mode, you get a power gauge instead of a tachometer, but since it still has a needle that swings around as you give it the gas, you feel attached to the drive. Other displays are available for your driving pleasure as well.

Fairing in seamlessly is the 12.3-inch touchscreen, which is big and beautiful, and our WAZE app looked superb. All the tech you need is onboard with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and a great sounding, 11-speaker JBL audio system. You also get a 1 year Connected Services Trial offering with Drive Connect and Remote Connect.

That spacious feeling really carries over to the rear seat. It starts with our tester’s optional panorama roof that floods the interior with light. (Note – it’s a fixed roof. We would have liked the ability to open it, or at least tilt for some fresh air). It also looks like Toyota could easily have squeezed in a 3rd row, but instead gave a 2nd row with impressive stretch-out legroom that’s very limo like. Bring your taller family and friends along. And their luggage – cargo space is plentiful, and you can easily fold the rear seats down to create impressive room. Luxury meets capability, and it’s a win-win in the Crown.

Luxuriously Efficient

Driving reinforces the luxury vibe, but with a modern eye towards great fuel efficiency.

Power is provided by a hybrid system featuring a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine and three electric motors to provide a combined 240-horsepower. Like most Toyota hybrids, this is an advanced system, and we found our Crown going full EV mode around town and on the freeway – basically whenever it felt it could save fuel without hurting performance.

And the numbers are impressive, with an EPA rating of 39 city and 37 highway – excellent for such a large vehicle. And even with us driving it hard, we still averaged 33 mpg. Driving hard is not really necessary, and the big Toy feels designed more for comfy cruising. When you need it, you can get 0-60 in about 7 seconds, quick enough for the daily drive.

That powertrain does become whisper quiet in EV mode, and with a soft suspension and those comfy and supportive leather seats, it’s a wonderful place to spend time. Handling is responsive, but not really sporty – this vehicle’s mission is Lexus like smoothness without ruffling feathers and it’s excellent at just that.

Comfort also includes confidence, with standard AWD on all models, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 which includes Pre-Collision, Blind Spot monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Assist. Our tester had the Advanced Technology Package, which adds Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking and the exceptionally handy Panoramic View Monitor – all in all well worth the $1,865.

Attention Value Shoppers!

There’s even better news in the checkout aisle. The Crown Signia starts with the XLE model at $43,590. For a full-on Luxury vibe, with loads of tech and comfort that’s great value. Our tester was the higher-end Limited model, which ladles on the goodness, and starts at $47,990. Add in the Technology Package ($1,865), some additional accessories and Connected Service extended trial, plus $1,450 for Destination, and we rang the bell at $52,160. Just over $50k for all this is exceptional.

Compare it to the Lexus RX 350h which is very posh, but comes in at a comparable  $64,165 that’s a big jump. We’d also look at the Mazda CX70 which is a luxurious and stylish plug-in hybrid, but also a step up in price at $59,500.

Great looks, luxury and value, the all-new 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited serves up Lexus luxury at a very Toyota price. We love it!
