A new documentary film teases production versions of the N Vision 74 supercar and several SUV models as Hyundai continues its strong product push.
Automakers usually keep a tight lid on their design centers with cameras and other recording equipment seldom being allowed inside to avoid giving rivals early information on what models are coming next. Hyundai recently gave filmmakers a rare exception as part of a documentary with the film crew getting a rare opportunity to see the inner workings of the company.
That included new and upcoming models with the teaser trailer for the documentary appearing to reveal three new models including the possible production version of the N Vision 74 concept car, Hyundai’s rumored hybrid performance car project that has been canceled and reconfirmed at various points over the years since the original concept first appeared back in 2022.
Is that you, N Vision 74?
The documentary in question is called “The Great Heritage – Car” with the film featuring footage that was shot in Hyundai’s Korean design studio. Hyundai’s lawyers made the film crew blur or obscure the bulk of the vehicles they were working on, but the surprise appearance of a possible production version of the N Vision 74 is the highlight of the trailer. The car itself is blurred but unlike the 2022 concept parked alongside it, this one has red paint and appears to retain core elements of the concept including the large front splitter and the sporty profile. This red-hued vehicle might be a mockup used for exterior design evaluation but if that’s the case, it suggests the company is still very serious about bringing the vehicle into production and this would be the first time (blurred or otherwise) an image of a seperate N Vision outside the original concept has appeared in public.
The Hyundai N Vision 74 that debuted in 2022 is inspired by Giugiaro’s Hyundai Pony Coupe from 1974. Interestingly, both Giorgetto Giugiaro and Fabrizio Giugiaro are prominently featured in the documentary, alongside ex-Pininfarina designer Ken Okuyama and several members of the Hyundai design team. Hyundai confirmed a short while back that the car will eventually enter production with the company’s online presentation suggesting it would debut by 2030. However, separate rumors suggest it could appear as early as 2026 with a limited production run to serve as the halo model for Hyundai’s N performance brand. This mysterious version of the N Vision points to a key stepping stone for the company in terms of progress towards eventual production but it remains to be seen what kind of powertrain the model will have since the original concept debuted a novel dual-motor electric powertrain powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell.
Two SUVs raise further questions
In addition to the mysterious red car, the documentary also appears to tease two more SUVs with the clay models for this pair hiding in the background. They are visible only for a brief moment and the lack of blurring suggests that these could possibly be clay models depicting designs that didn’t make the cut for vehicles that Hyundai will eventually bring into production. The first one might be the next-generation Tucson with the current model (pictured) being due for a revamp.
The second model is more mysterious. Unlike the first SUV, this clay model doesn’t have any discernible bodywork but is boxier and larger in shape than Hyundai’s largest SUV the Palisade. This model could be a rumored flagship SUV with this model getting a traditional ladder frame which would theoretically allow Hyundai to have a luxury flagship that will not only have technology at its disposal, but also an impressive degree of capability. Only time will tell, but Hyundai has so far chosen to remain silent on what the vehicles could be.
In the meantime, the documentary itself will only be available in Korea on the OTT Wave platform with no plans to release an English version of the documentary. Hyundai will still have plenty to offer U.S. buyers though with the company planning to roll out the Ioniq 9 EV and the revamped 2026 Hyundai Palisade which was just revealed in its home Korean market.
