Genesis made a splash back in 2021 when the luxury brand released the GV60 EV. The EV was the first EV model for the young brand and it proved to be pretty potent with the EV bringing an impressive balance of style, performance, and technology to buyers. However, even this all-rounder needed an update and Genesis used the 2025 model year to make some upgrades to the model in a bold refresh.
Light changes outside hide big changes within GV60
The changes to the exterior of the CUV are relatively light and are meant to help bring it in line with other Genesis models. The front bumper is reworked and the shield-shaped front grille is reworked for a slicker look. The rear bumper pitches its odd-looking silver trim on the lower part and the plastic wheel arches are now body-colored. The model also debuts new 21-inch aero-designed alloy wheels.
The bulk of the changes however are found inside the CUV. The two 12.3-inch display screens are gone and are now replaced with a single 27-inch display screen that unifies the instrument cluster and the infotainment screens under one single piece of glass. This screen first appeared in the bigger GV70 and the EV also gets the same reworked three-spoke steering wheel that appeared in the aforementioned SUV too. Genesis chose to keep performance information close to the vest for now, but look for the model to get a larger battery pack like its Hyundai and Kia cousins with the Magma model potentially making more horsepower than the Ioniq 5 N. Lesser models could also see more power but it remains to be seen how much it will go up from the 429 and 483 hp currently on hand.
International markets will get it first
Like other new models from Genesis, the South Korean market will get the new model first with pricing and other basic details being released later. It has also been confirmed for Australia but it’s not known when it will come to the U.S. Our market is the strongest for CUVs but sales for EVs have also been slowing down and the GV60 is no exception to this either. We think it will come to the U.S> but unlike the outgoing GV60, the brand could take a more calculated strategy with the new one to help it still make a profit while also adapting to changing market conditions.
