Durango Hellcat “Silver Bullet” Signals End of Hellcat Production

Dodge shocked the world when it confirmed that it was ending production of the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine. The Hellcat powered everything from Chargers to Ram pickup trucks with the powertrain cementing itself as an icon of the performance car market. However, buyers looking for one last swig of Hellcat performance had one remaining sanctuary, the Dodge Durango Hellcat with this model getting a brief stay of execution due to its strong popularity. Sadly, time is up and the Hellcat will be leaving the Durango for good in the form of the all-new “Silver Bullet” edition.

Durango Silver Bullet gets distinctive styling elements

The Silver Bullet is a styling package that gives the Durango Hellcat Triple Nickel paint and a Satin Black hood with gold-colored 20-inch wheels for additional splashes of contrast. The badging also gets reworked and all Silver Bullets get red-colored brake calipers with Dodge attempting to pump up the Durango’s visual presence even further.

The interior gets Ebony Red Nappa Leather SRT seats with embroidered SRT logos, suede-wrapped steering wheel, and other high quality materials to enhance its curb appeal even further. Performance for the Silver Bullet (as the name implies) comes from the 6.2 liter Hellcat V8 that makes just over 700 hp. The engine is still mated to an eight-speed automatic and the model also gets standard all-wheel drive too. The V8 is still a screamer but its inability to meet tightening fuel economy regulations is the sole reason why it’s being axed with Stellantis hoping that buyers looking for more performance will go for either an EV or one of its inline-six powered models.

What’s next for the Durango?

Pricing for the 2025 Dodge Durango Hellcat Silver Bullet starts at $113,545 which is $11,000 more than last year’s base model. Production is also slated to be limited but Dodge is not revealing how many Silver Bullets it plans to make. In addition to this Hellcat-fired model, Dodge will also be releasing a 20th-anniversary version of the Durango R/T. These models get the same type of updates but start at a slightly lower $70,470 before destination charges are factored in.
