It has been a bit since the Volkswagen ID. Buzz made its debut. The funky retro EV van was designed to be a modern reboot of the iconic 60’s era VW bus but with electrification forming the core of its performance DNA. However, while the model already made its debut in Europe, it has been a long wait for U.S. buyers, with the company taking its time in bringing it to our shores. Volkswagen is just about ready to bring it over now, with the firm releasing pricing for the Buzz.
The ID. Buzz costs how much?
Style is often a fleeting thing with other style-focused products focusing on making their consumers pay a high price tag for the privilege of staying on top of the latest trends. The 2025 ID. Buzz is no exception with a base model starting at $61,545. The price tag includes the $1,550 destination fee and gets you into a base Pro S model with rear-wheel drive and a single electric motor providing the juice to haul up to seven people. This entry-level is still well equipped with Pro S models getting tri-zone climate control, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, and heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats.
Pro S Plus is the next rung on the ladder with these models being the first trim level to get access to all-wheel drive and more equipment which causes the price to get bumped up to $65,045 for RWD while AWD models get bumped up to $69,545. This trim also gets two-tone paint finishes with buyers getting access to eight different colors. The 1st Edition is the last model available and will be the new launch model with this version starting at $67,045 for the RWD version while the all-wheel drive version starts at an eye-watering $71,545. These models get all the Pro S Plus’s equipment but with special trim and style accents.
Is it too little too late for the Buzz?
Volkswagen confirmed that the ID. Buzz will reach dealerships by the end of this year with the first wave of these models being 1st Editions. The 1st Edition will follow the trend of other EVs that tend to start their production run with a loaded launch edition before other trim levels make their way into the pipeline.
However, the 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz was also designed to be an offering that focuses on style and appealing to trends. As seen in other products that follow the same game plan, they have a short shelf life and often experience low sales after an initial surge in demand. With the company making U.S. buyers wait an extra two years to experience it, it will be interesting to see if the Buzz can still use these credentials to win over buyers who might also be looking at more current versions of some of its rivals.
