2023 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid Drive Review

2023 Honda According Touring Hybrid; Outstanding by Being Normal

The 2023 Honda Accord Touring carries on the excellent Accord legacy. Since it’s inception, the Honda Accord has been known for its blend of style, comfort, and performance. Landing on Car and Driver’s 10 Best an incredible 38 times since the list started 40 years ago. Honda knows what they’re doing by creating value in the mid-size sedan market.

Yes we know that the EPA classifies the Accord as a full-size sedan, but Honda and its competitors consider it a mid-size.

Design

The 2023 Accord Hybrid Touring features a sleek and sophisticated exterior design, with LED headlights, a distinctive front grille, and stylish alloy wheels. The updated design is 2.7 inches longer, with a fastback design adding an air of performance.

Just like the exterior, the interior has been updated for 2023. Honda optimally designed the interior to maximize functionality while balancing comfort and style.

Up front, the heated and ventilated seats are comfortable for long drives. Along with that, there is plenty of storage for drinks, snacks, napkins, and other items needed for a long drive. Audio is provided by a Bose audio system, which produces good quality sound. While better than the lower trimmed Accord EX, it doesn’t stand out in today’s market.

In the back, leg, hip, and shoulder space is great. However, headroom is lacking. Average to slightly taller passengers will be touching their heads on the headline. This is likely due to the fastback design. Seating is very comfortable all round and the Touring trim provides additional amenities, like Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Amazon’s Alexa.

Trunk storage space is cavernous, even with a spare tire underneath or compressor and fix a flat for the Touring trim underneath. The rear seatbacks can be folded for additional space. This is done from inside the trunk, which is a security measure against someone breaking a window and folding down the rear seats to access the trunk. There is also a ridge between the trunk and rear seats when the seats are folded making the pass through a little tighter than expected.

Technology

Honda equips the 2023 Accord Touring trim with a range of advanced technology features. These include a user-friendly infotainment system with a large touchscreen display, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a premium sound system, navigation, wireless charging, and a suite of safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and more.

Performance

The Accord Touring often comes with a powerful yet efficient engine. The Hybrid Touring trim is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 2-hybrid motor system. This setup is good for 204 hp and 247 ft-lb of torque. Offering good acceleration, 46 mpg city, and 41 mpg highway, the Accord’s powertrain is a great fit. It also tends to have a smooth and comfortable ride, making it suitable for daily commuting or long-distance driving.

The higher performance 2.0 turbo engine in the previous generation Accord is not available for 2023.

When hitting the curves, the steering is precise and responsive but provides little feedback. Braking is also a little vague. It’s easy to make smooth stops, however stopping quickly can be a little disheartening as the pedal will compress more without increasing braking force. Emergency stopping isn’t an issue as going full force on the pedal produces solid braking behavior.

Safety

Honda tends to prioritize safety, and the Accord Touring often comes with a suite of safety features. This includes adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, and a rearview camera, providing an extra layer of safety and confidence while driving.

Pricing

The base MSRP on our 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Tester was $37,890. With no options the only additional cost is $1,095 for the destination charge. This brings the total to $38,985.
