Despite the ongoing UAW strike as well as a massive backlog of orders for its hot-selling F-150 Lightning pickup, Ford is still continuing to ramp up production of its hot-selling EV pickup. That includes new models, with the company revealing the all-new 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash.
Additional Equipment Not Performance Define Flash Experience
Despite what its name might suggest, the F-150 Flash is not a formal performance model. Instead, it’s actually an equipment-focused trim level that bundles in many features and options that are popular with F-150 customers. That’s evident in its placement in the trim ladder, with the Flash being positioned between the XLT and the Lariat in the trim ladder. This unique placement also means that it gets some features that can’t be had on one or the other, including Ford’s BlueCruise 1.2 hands-free driving system, the 320-mile range extended battery pack, and the bigger 15.5-inch infotainment system.
The F-150 Lightning Flash is a direct outcome of engaging with and learning from our customers. This truck combines many of the technology-forward features our customers love in our EV lineup, at a more accessible price. With an EPA-estimated 320 miles of range, the Lightning Flash is another example of the speed at which we are adapting to grow our EV business.”
The exterior styling on this version of the truck will be largely unchanged when compared to other Lightning models, with the lone exception being the Flash moniker on the charging port door, which has also been used to denote other F-150 Lightning trims in the past. The Flash will also be the latest F-150 Lightning model to benefit from a recently inked deal between Ford and Tesla that allowed the company to use Tesla’s supercharging network for EV charging.
Finally, the Flash will also come with a heat pump as standard equipment. This pump setup is more efficient than traditional vehicle heating systems and allows an equipped EV to travel farther since the pump uses less energy from the battery pack to modulate the climate in the interior.
When Can I Order a 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash?
Ford confirmed that orders for the F-150 Lightning Flash will open up early next year, with production expected to begin shortly after that. Pricing will start at $69,995 before any fees or green credits are factored in.
