2024 Mazda CX-5 Brings Minor Changes, S Model Pitched For Trim Simplicity

Mazda has revealed its updates for the 2024 CX-5, which is sold alongside the wagon-like CX-50. The CX-5 is still a strong player for the company in terms of sales, and the CX-5’s updates aim to help it stay fresh against a growing pool of updated rivals.

Cx-5 Carbon Turbo Edition Gets Zircon Sand Paint; Trim Ladder Gets Other Minor Changes

As mentioned, Mazda is making minimal changes for the 2024 model year, with the returning CX-5 Carbon Turbo Edition getting Zircon Sand Metallic paint. Buyers that opt for the hue will also get Terracotta leather accents and other trim upgrades. The appearance of the Carbon Turbo Edition also comes at the cost of the base S trim, which is getting the axe for 2024. This has been a growing trend that we have observed at other automakers in recent years. Mazda’s axing of the S trim reflects a shifting focus towards higher trim levels that can have greater customer reach while still delivering strong results in the bottom line price.

This move also increases the entry price by $2,600, with the CX-5 S Select now serving as the new entry-level model. The Carbon Turbo also returns after last appearing in 2021. These changes don’t affect the core exterior styling or the performance hardware, with lower trims getting a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, turbo models will continue to be motivated by a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter that makes 256 horsepower (227 horsepower when given regular-grade gasoline to drink.) A six-speed automatic will continue to be the lone transmission available for the CX-5 for the foreseeable future. We have included a pricing ladder below that includes the $1,375 destination fee.

  • S Select: $30,675
  • S Preferred: $32,025
  • S Carbon Edition: $33,325
  • S Premium: $35,275
  • S Premium Plus: $37,875
  • Carbon Turbo: $38,375
  • Turbo Premium: $39,175
  • Turbo Signature: $41,975

All CX-5 models come with an impressive amount of standard equipment with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Smart Brake Assist. All-wheel drive is also standard across the entire lineup, allowing the CX-5 to have four-weather capability across all trim levels. The 2024 Mazda CX-5 will begin making its way to dealerships this fall.
