Ford Sets The Time Machine To 1970s With Free Wheeling Edition Bronco Sport

The fast-selling Ford Bronco Sport is preparing to enter the 2024 model year by seemingly going back in time with the company revealing an all-new appearance package for the 2024 Bronco Sport dubbed the Free Wheeling Edition, which is a colorful homage to the era of bellbottom pants, disco, and sky-high gasoline prices.

Colorful Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Edition Attempts To Channel Retro Vibes

When we last, saw the colorful Free Wheeling package in the 1970s, the F-100, F-150, Courier, and Econoline also joined the Bronco in offering buyers a wild slab of colorful decals for their rides. The Bronco Sport pays homage to this by offering buyers its own wild lineup of graphics with red, orange, and yellow hues being placed all over the boxy SUV. The wild colors are used on the hood, tailgate, and sides. The front grille has a silver-hued finish, while the 17-inch wheels get red accents.

The interior gets pinstriping on the seatbacks as well as red accents on the dashboard and door panels. Ford claims that this package (befitting its name) is only available on the Badlands trim and will be a limited production run though the Blue Oval stopped short of revealing just how many of these vividly colorful SUVs will be made.

Meanwhile, buyers who want a more restrained SUV and aren’t willing to squeeze back into their disco suits will be pleased to hear that Ford will also be offering a Black Appearance Package for the Bronco Sport. As the name implies, this appearance package throws plenty of black trim at the Bronco Sport, with the front grille getting splashed with carbon black accents while matte black 17-inch wheels also help improve its profile lout on the trail. The badges are dipped in black, while the bucking Bronco on the steering wheel is also finished in Smoked Grey. This package will be based on the Big Bend model, but this package cannot be combined with either the Black Diamond off-road package or Shadow Black exterior paint.

When Can I Buy One?

Look for the first 2024 Bronco Sport models to begin making their way to dealerships later this year, with the company confirming that it’s already accepting orders for the 2024 lineup. The Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Edition starts at $33,730, which includes the $1,595 destination fee and is a $2,500 premium over a standard issue Badlands model. Meanwhile, the Black Appearance package adds $1,750 to the price of the Big Bend, and the configurator for the 2024 Bronco Sport is live now.
