Toyota Teases 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter, Could Be More Extreme Version Of TRD PRO

Toyota’s ongoing teaser campaign for the 2024 Tacoma is slowly revealing more aspects of the truck but we still don’t know key details. However, a new stream of teaser images appears to suggest that the TRD PRO could be joined by a more extreme model, the Tacoma Trailhunter.

Trailhunter, Taking The TRD PRO To The Extreme?

The photos that Toyota released today were close up shots of the Trailhunter, but it appears that this truck will be a very potent offering when it makes its way to dealerships. The Trailhunter will have LED projector beam headlights and a LED daytime running light. It’s resemblance to the Tundra is no accident with Toyota stating in the past that they wanted to the Tacoma to have more of a family resemblance to its bigger cousin. Like the Tundra, the Trailhunter also gets its name spelled out in the headlight casing which allows it to glow at night.

The rear of the truck gets a new compass looking badge and the ARB sourced steel bumper appears to suggest that Toyota will be working with the Australian off-road parts maker for select components including the red tinted tow hooks. With some of the other items that we see on this truck, the Trailhunter could perhaps be a response to Chevrolet’s AEV Bison series as well as Ford’s Raptor lineup of off-road vehicles but it remains to be seen what Toyota is exactly up to with this particular version of the Tacoma though a more extreme version of the TRD Pro can’t be ruled out.

When Will We See It?

It’s not exactly known when the 2024 Toyota Tacoma lineup will make its debut, but the steady stream of teasers suggests that we don’t have to wait too long for the truck to appear. it will be interesting to see if an electrified version of the model will appear. Toyota teased a Tacoma  sized EV truck concept when it was revealing its EV plans for the future and an EV version would allow the Tacoma to eb ready for EV rivals including the rumored Ram Dakota mid-size EV pickup.
