The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is poised to make its debut on January 17th, but before that happens, the bow-tie brigade has blessed us with another teaser for the green-infused performance machine which takes full advantage of Jack Frost and his snowy wares.
E-Ray Tester Promises To Debut Stealth Mode
The brief teaser that Chevrolet released is a true blink or miss it affair, and while the rapid camera cuts make it difficult to see precise details, there are still a few things that will make this Vette stand out from its mainstream siblings. A major item is the addition of an all-new Stealth mode feature and while we get to wait to hear formal details about it, it appears that the mode will serve as a quiet mode for the E-Ray and perhaps give drivers an option to snake their way through quiet neighborhoods or perhaps even run on EV power for short periods of time.
We suspect that the E-Ray will be like a few other hybrid supercars we have seen like the McLaren Artura which offer small amounts of pure electric range and would be enough to move small distances before the V8 kicks in for the rest of your trip. In addition to the new feature, the E-Ray is also slated to get carbon-ceramic brakes, regenerative braking, and all-wheel drive. The E-Ray could also be a potential leaping off point for an expanded Corvette model family especially with rumors of an all-electric Vette still floating around the halls of the GM Tech Center.
When Will We See It?
Thankfully, the wait won’t be too long, with Chevrolet taking the covers off the E-Ray on January 17th. We look forward to finding out more about the E-Ray then especially if the model has a surprise or two lurking underneath its mid-engine infused skin.
