We’re less than a week away from the unveiling of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and while this model is shaping up to be the most potent C8 offering yet, we still had some questions that remained unanswered. One of them was how high the beefed-up V8 could climb before it hit the redline. Chevrolet has answered that question boldly with the unveiling of an all-new teaser video.
Z06 Redline Is Not Quite Over 9,000, But It’s Pretty Close
8,600 minutes until the worldwide feature-film premiere revealing the All-New 2023 #Corvette #Z06. Tune in 12pm ET on 10.26.21. pic.twitter.com/fy6viEdwex

The bad news for DBZ fans (like this author) is that we cannot replicate Vegeta’s iconic quote saying the V8’s redline is over 9,000!!! The good news for performance fans is that the V8 is still a screamer, with Chevy confirming that it revs to 8,600 RPM. We get to see it in action, too, with Chevrolet’s brief teaser video featuring plenty of engine noise, strategic shots of the tachometer, and even slices of reactions from passengers that were lucky enough to ride in some of the early prototypes.
The sweet noises under the hood make up for the exterior styling’s unique form of subtlety, with the Z06’s bodywork not being quite as extreme of a makeover as we had hoped for. While Chevrolet still has not confirmed what engine is powering the new Z06, a growing mountain of evidence suggests that a 5.5-liter flat-plane V8 will power the model with some of its family roots with the engine in the C8.R racer.
When Will We See The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06?
Chevrolet is still playing the waiting game regarding the Z06’s official debut, but thankfully we are in the home stretch with the bow-tie brigade confirming that the 2023 Z06 will make its debut on October 23rd. When it does look for the Z06 to perhaps show off just how flexible of a canvas it is when it comes to optional equipment.
Past spy photos have caught Z06 test vehicles evaluating various spoilers and wheel options, so look for some of these to appear as optional extras that buyers can put on their car to improve the exterior styling and performance.
