Dodge has made a very big splash this year, with the recent unveiling of the updated 2021 model lineup. The Durango in particular drew headlines for finally receiving the Hellcat treatment. You read that correctly, Dodge has created a limited edition Durango Hellcat with a 710 horsepower supercharged V8 lurking under the hood. But while that will certainly draw its fair share of attention, Dodge has not forgotten the broader members of its lineup, and has recently released a teaser image that previews both the 2021 Durango and Charger Pursuit models ahead of their respective debuts.
Dodge Law (Dodge’s law enforcement arm) chose to not release any further information beyond the image shown, but revealed that both models will be available to order by September of 2020. That means that we could see an official confirmation from FCA very soon, but Mopar Insiders goes a step further, and claims that the Durango Pursuit will be equipped with the R/T Tow N Go Package which brings a 5.7 liter Hemi V8 and an 8,700 lb towing capacity. As a bonus, the package also increases the top speed to 145 mph which should help the Pursuit hold its own in high speed police chase scenarios.
As for the Charger Pursuit, look for the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 to still be the default engine, with rear wheel drive being the standard format. Of course, the more powerful 5.7 liter V8 will be available as an option, with the eight cylinder being paired with an all-wheel drive system. Along with the diverse engine lineup, look for both models to still get ballistic protection for the doors. The 2021 Charger Pursuit in particular will have a big set of shoes to fill, with the outgoing model being the best selling police model in the market today. Look for the 2021 models to reinforce their presence, especially against Chevrolet and Ford.
