What’s the catch?
How can this 390HP, mid-front V8 powered legend be so cheap and so clean?
If an original racing Shelby Daytona Coupe, this machine would be one of a handful of survivors and carry a price into the millions. This core design’s handling brilliance, speed and reliability are what won it its Daytona nickname, after all.
So this raspberry beret is a replica.
So what?
The advantage of being a good, semi-authorized replica is that it is (nearly) brand new. And built by Factory Five versus an individual kitter.
Imagine rumbling up to your local cars n’ coffee in a true LeMans legend — and paying your bank about $400 a month in total for the pleasure.
Dreamy!
This machine sold for an undoubtedly disappointing sale price at the RM Sotheby’s Santa Monica auction the other week. Its non-Cali-compliant emissions might have put off some buyers. But whoever took this one home has a legend at perhaps 4% the cost of an original.
Unlike the 60’s racing legend, the Factory Five even comes with air conditioning.
