Two Genesis Coupes are among the six-pack of official customs from Hyundai for the 2015 SEMA show. While the results from ARK Performance and TJIN are quite distinct, interesting similarities are present and notable between the two. Most critically, the standard-equipment 3.8-liter, 350HP V6 is boosted up to quite extreme power levels via supercharged induction.
TJIN runs a Vortex V4 supercharger with Bisimoto ECU tune, but few other mechanical mods to the engine internals. A ballpark output from this conversion is around 475 horsepower. Clearly enough to make the Genesis Coupe a powerhouse, of course, and one that looks divine on its slammed stance. Sliding around corners with abandon, the green roll cage showing through the glasshouse, the TJIN Genesis Coupe is a realistic Stage 2 type of upgrade for owners to pursue on their own Genesis Coupes.
The ARK Performance upgrades start with bored engine size: now uip to 4.0-liters for the Lambda V6 engine up front. From there, things quickly take on a race tune with a dozen ARK performance mods within the engine block itself:
- Brian Crower 4.0L Stroker Kit (Built by ARK Performance)
- JE Pistons
- Brian Crower Rods
- Brian Crower Crank
- Custom Rotrex Supercharger System (Built by ARK Performance)
- AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kit
- VP Racing M1 Methanol
- Cometic MLS Head Gaskets
- PRE Custom ARP Head Studs
- ARK Performance Coated Headers
- ARK Performance Downpipes with Test Pipes
- ARK Performance Thermal Coated GRiP Catback Exhaust System with Burnt Tips
- Synapse Engineering Radial Blow Off Valve
- Lap3 Korea Custom ECU Tuning
These upgrades include a Rotrex supercharger with ARK tune and engineering, taking our baseline power estimate from 350 to 550. But that was not enough for the madcap ARK team. A methanol race fueling system is a rapid way up 100-horsepower, while derestricted and enlarged exhaust downpipes crown the 700HP estimate of this bespoke custom.
With double the factory power to the back axle only, the next steps are about grip and control.
Even with the full chassis, suspension and grip upgrades (listed below), the ARK Genesis Coupe is clearly most comfortable hanging its tail outside the normal racing lines. Totally fine for a drift special, but one that might have trouble beating the TJIN Genesis for actual laptime pace above.
Finally, ARK fit its own Solus bodykit to the creation for max visual impact — and to house all the special aero, grip and power on this giant-killer from Hyundai. LOVE the new nose design from the ARK Solus bumper, even if it looked like it was mounted wonky in some of the photos. Big gap between bumper-top and leading edge of hood.
As a truly bonkers Stage 3 or Stage 4 mod package, the ARK upgrade feels more authentic, if perhaps less road-legal as a racecar for the road. On TJIN’s first outing in the top tier of official Hyundai SEMA showcars, the team delivered good results that are well-executed. We’d skip that cabin completely, however. Ick.
Also, the LED indicators of the TJIN’s nose are cool, but would be cooler if they swapped out the yellow stock lightbulbs of the low-beam projects and foglights for an HID or LED upgrade. While we’re critiquing, good to caveat that SEMA is all about individual customs. So even though we hate the exterior color, it doesn’t really matter. Someone loves it, and that is all that matters in the world of dream-car customs.
Our friend at Cars & Coffee has done a few Plasti-dip colors on his wheels over the years… so we created some renders of future unique colors for his boots.

Hyundai SEMA 2015 – ARK and TJIN Genesis Coupes
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 26, 2015 – Rounding out Hyundai’s 2015 SEMA lineup, TJIN Edition RoadShow has revealed details on its convention-defying Genesis Coupe. For Neil Tjin’s first official Hyundai vehicle built for SEMA, the builder turned to underground racing for inspiration to create this mad, 500 horsepower racer. The vehicle will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on November 3 at 11:30 a.m. PT.
At the heart of TJIN’s Genesis Coupe is Hyundai’s 3.8-liter “Lambda” V6 engine, which has been boosted via a Vortech supercharger kit built by the power gurus from Bisimoto Engineering. With the addition of a free-flowing exhaust system, Vortech front mount intercooler and blow-off valve, the vehicle now produces more than 500 horsepower. With the addition of Rotiform 19-in. 3-piece HUR wheels, custom Baer x CBA Extreme Plus brake calipers and Falklen FK345 tires, the vehicle’s stopping power is now on par with its go-fast performance.
The vehicle now sits lower on KW coilovers to give a more aggressive stance. Unique Fabrication supplied a custom front lip, rear spoiler and custom trunk lid, and the exterior was finished in a custom Kylie Tjin Axalta green paint job.
“The Tjin Edition Hyundai Genesis is the perfect mix of speed and style,” said Neil Tjin, president, TJIN Edition RoadShow. “The vehicle grabs your attention with its vibrant, Tjin green ‘Axalta’ paint job and custom Rotiform wheels, boasts impressive performance thanks to a Bisimoto Engineering supercharger system and Baer brake system, and the interior is finished in CT-inspired Alea leather.”

ARK Performance Solus Genesis Coupe
Seventh Consecutive SEMA Vehicle Blends Premium and Performance
Sponsorship Provided by Hyundai Car Care Express and Quaker State
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 30, 2015 – Leveraging its long-standing relationship with Hyundai Motor America, ARK Performance has released details on its race-inspired Solus Genesis Coupe, blending performance and luxury to take on vehicles like the BMW M4 and Lexus RC F. The vehicle will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on November 3 at 11:30 a.m. PT.
For the tuner’s seventh consecutive vehicle built for SEMA, ARK added performance and luxury in tandem, creating a premium coupe that can go toe-to-toe with top rivals from around the world. Building on the success of last year’s AR550 Genesis Sedan, the vehicle’s design focuses on creating a wider visual look to give a more powerful stance using ARK’s own “Solus” wide body kit. The interior also has been given a complete makeover with a redesigned dashboard, race-bred steering wheel and gauges, with ample carbon fiber.
The Solus Genesis Coupe is sponsored by Quaker State and Hyundai Assurance Car Care Express, with more than 300 service centers nationally. Car Care Express provides customers with quick oil changes, tire rotation and other basic services in less than an hour. Hyundai also recommends Quaker State for its dealer network and, it is the factory fill motor oil for Hyundai vehicles as they roll off the assembly line.
ARK Performance Solus Genesis Coupe
“The Genesis Coupe is the perfect platform for developing our performance product lineup,” said Kevin Bentley, Marketing and Sales Manager, ARK Performance, Inc. “Hyundai’s 3.8-liter engine is strong enough to handle all the extra power we’re now developing, and the chassis is well balanced and easy to modify, allowing us to create this lowered, aggressive stance while maintaining that clean look we’re going for.”
Hyundai’s 3.8-liter “Lambda” V6 engine is stroked to 4.0 liters for a powerful start to the build. With the addition of a Rotrex supercharger and strengthened engine internals, the vehicle now develops more than 500 horsepower, sending that power to the rear wheels – now sporting sticky, Nitto rubber – through a 6-speed manual transmission. The addition of an ARK Legato trunk spoiler and APR Performance carbon fiber front splitter round out the vehicle’s aggressive, race-bred appearance.

This year’s builds feature three of Hyundai’s all-new 2016 Tucson crossovers, two high-powered Genesis Coupes, and a Veloster Turbo R-Spec. Hyundai will be showcasing these creations at its SEMA display in Center Hall (booth #24387) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nov. 3-6, 2015.

ARK Performance Solus Genesis Coupe
Leveraging its long-standing relationship with Hyundai, ARK Performance created the race-inspired Solus Genesis Coupe, which blends performance and luxury to take on the established performance completion. The vehicle’s design focused on creating a wider visual look to give a more powerful stance using ARK’s own “Solus” wide body kit, and the interior was given a complete makeover with a redesigned dashboard, race-bred steering wheel and gauges, with ample carbon fiber. Hyundai’s 3.8-liter “Lambda” V6 engine was stroked to 4.0-liters and boosted via a Rotrex supercharger to produce more than 500 horsepower.
Bisimoto Engineering Tucson
For its fourth consecutive Hyundai SEMA build, Bisimoto Engineering built the most-powerful Tucson crossover ever. To deliver a final output of 700+ horsepower, Bisimoto started with Hyundai’s 2.4-liter “Theta II” engine, mating strengthened internals with fast-burning flex-fuel, a high-boost turbocharger and an upgraded engine management system. The builder finished the exterior with a very clean “street fighter” look, riding on custom air-ride suspension, white five-star race-spec wheels and sticky, R-compound rubber.
Blood Type Racing Veloster Turbo R-Spec
The Blood Type Racing (BTR) Edition Veloster was created with an evil twist, designed to look as though it just switched over to the dark side. The sinister visuals began with a “Carbon Black” paint job accented with a red racing stripe, augmented with a carbon fiber wide-body kit to give a muscular, more aggressive stance, front-mounted aero canards, front splitter and a rear deck spoiler. Utilizing Hyundai’s 1.6-liter “Gamma” engine as a starting point, BTR added new cylinder sleeves, a high-boost turbocharger from Garrett, custom connecting rods and pistons, and a retuned OEM ECU to deliver more than 500 horsepower.
JP Edition Tucson
John Pangilinan continues to blur the lines between lifestyle and automotive with his 2016 Tucson Adventuremobile. The vehicle blends Hyundai’s new crossover platform with a passion for the great outdoors, perfect for the weekend getaway. The most obvious addition was a Treeline Tamarack roof-top tent, with ample room to sleep two campers. The exterior was beefed up with the addition of an Aries bull bar and side steps, Rigid Industries LED lights, a custom 1.5-in. suspension lift for extra ground clearance, and Toyo Open Country A/T II tires with RAYS Gram Lights 57DR wheels to provide the extra grip needed for the occasional off-road excursion.
Rockstar Performance Garage Tucson
For the tuner’s first official Hyundai build, Rockstar Performance Garage (RPG) injected serious off-road lifeblood into Hyundai’s popular Tucson crossover. Starting with the most important piece of any off-roader, the suspension, RPG added a fully-custom, adjustable shocks and struts system from King Shocks. Riding on massive, 32-in. MTZ P3 tires from Mickey Thompson, the vehicle now sits 6-in. over stock height. The vehicle received a power boost via a high-flow Magnaflow exhaust system, a new K&N intake and intercooler from Mishimoto.
TJIN Edition Genesis Coupe
Rounding out Hyundai’s SEMA lineup, TJIN Edition created an underground-racing inspired Genesis Coupe. To produce more than 500 horsepower, TJIN started with Hyundai’s 3.8-liter “Lambda” V6 engine, boosting the motor with a Vortech supercharger kit built by the power gurus from Bisimoto Engineering, then added a free-flowing exhaust system, Vortech front mount intercooler and blow-off valve. KW coilovers, a custom front lip, rear spoiler and trunk lid from Unique Fabrication give a more aggressive stance, and the exterior was finished in a custom Kylie Tjin Axalta green paint job.
