This is one of those cars that absolutely craves abuse! Absolutely savage is the best way to describe the 464-horsepower V6TT in the new ATS-V coupe. The test car wore a very-subtle Phantom Grey and standard painted alloys — but those Q-car looks hide a beast of an upgrade. The most enticing and perhaps ideal Cadillac V-Series powertrain, optional eight-speed auto, plus the choice of four doors or two!? That hotness shines through even the Armani-style relaxed color outside.
Firing the ATS-V around the first few corners is like getting past third base for the first time. It is a complex and macho rush of exceptionally competent third-gen magnetic shocks, standard Brembo brakes, insanely stout chassis feel, and perfect drive position. The Recaro buckets are some of the best in the world, while the cabin lux upgrades — six unique finishes, plus a few ATS-V exclusives — feel purposeful and worth the money.
Pricing is basically one trim level from $63k, but there are a variety of tasty options along the way in the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe configurator.
Most notable? The $5k Carbon pack, and the better-value $6k Track pack, which has all the carbon goodies but also the PDR and a lightweight racing car battery. V cool.
The ATS-V come standard with a six-speed manual, but GM’s very speedy new eight-gear automatic is also on the table and delivers the headline 3.9-second sprint to 60-mph. Top speed?
185mph!
We didn’t get anywhere near enough time in the car to really feel its massive superhero powers. Three laps, pulling hard and taping it all via the GoPro video above! Awesome. But gone as fast as it came…!
The ATS-V Coupe is a legend in the making. Watch this space.
