Lexus has not specified exactly what new F model is coming to Detroit – preferring to leave a bit of mystery in the two teasers just revealed.
We have a hunch it is the long-rumored GS-F in production form, arriving to Lexus showrooms in Summer 2015 as a 2016 model.
But it could be a new IS-F, or perhaps even the expected LS revamp.
We believe it is the GS-F from a close look at the front fenders, the hood length, and the fact that the GS would greatly benefit from the latest nose shown in the IS and RC. This GS-F, if that is what it turns out to be, is likely to headline a refresh for the GS350 and GS450h later in the 2015 calendar year. These revised GS sedans would arrive together, leveraging the halo appeal of the F model to raise the profile of the GS models in general.
We’ve created some rough renders showing how the RC F’s styling themes feel on the GS sedan proportions. Considering that they all share a similar chassis and floorplan, this is not quite a stretch to imagine shared engines and performance kit across the cars.
The biggest difference shown in these teasers vs the RC F is that the LED headlamps of the teaser are a horizontal array, versus a triangular stack in the RC F. Subtle. Overall, these renders are just a rough, rough guide….
