Never exist? That is a bit harsh, no?
The fact of the matter is, the Code 130R was always a longshot. The potential price range of the model would need to base around $16,000 and max at about $24,000, where the Camaro starts with no options. Sharing a Camaro chassis is certainly possible, but this again would bring prices far above the current Korean-engineered compact and subcompact cars in the General Motors portfolio.
As enticing as a car like this is, its chances of ever seeing production are extremely slim. The non-existent overhangs and proportions would compete nicely with the BMW 2 series coupe, but without the top-line power of the M235i — nor its $45,000 pricing.
As it stands, the new ATS Coupe is the closest in spirit to this model’s rear-drive ethos.
Where the Code 130R will live on is in the design department. The nose has already influenced the latest Malibu and is likely on the Equinox replacement for 2016.
