As we prepare for the upcoming Infiniti Q80 Inspiration concept’s debut in Paris, how about a look back at the springboard ideas that led to the first flagship, the Q45 of 1990.
The 1985 Cue-X concept from Nissan shares clear details with what became the Q45 from all angles, but especially in profile. This low and lean shape was far less formal than the competition from Lexus in the LS400, as well as the established players like Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
It is fascinating to see the inspiration for the original Q, and the low and flowing style shown by the Cue-X is certainly a part of the upcoming Q80 Inspiration. This model is billed as a sleek four-seat fastback — which strongly points to a four-door coupe in our book.
