My bad jokes aside, the A3 Cabrio will be very popular with all types of sun-seekers.
The cute A3 Cabrio joins the U.S.-bound 2015 A3 line-up that also includes an all-new compact sports sedan and plug-in hybrid Sportback body styles.
The little A3 Cabriolet has been quite a hit in Europe in its current generation, where it brings (some of) the classy and expensive-looking style of its larger A5 and S5 Cabrio siblings.
While the display model wears the full S-line body kit, far more humble A3 Cabrio’s should start with pricing in the low $30,000 range when arriving stateside in Spring 2014.
Overall U.S. convertible sales have tumbled by about 70-percent since the start of the 2008 financial crisis, but Audi hopes this fun-loving beach cruiser will defy the odds.
How? With ultra-modern tech, brand image, and luxury.
The soft-top is operable at up to 31 mph, and the A3 Cabrio is able to still hold 10-plus cubic feet of luggage in the trunk, even with the top down.
But… Red Econo Cabrios Have a Tough History to Overcome
Please, no one mention the Toyota Paseo!
Maybe it is the red color, or the economy-car proportions: but the Paseo comparison is much nicer than comparing the A3 Cabrio with the (future classic!) Geo Metro rag-top of the mid 1990s.
